Why is Ennis in Applied Electromechanics. She is an alchemist.
She keeps an eye out, while claiming her seat, for anyone who looks like they want to sell homework here.

Marcy is not at this exact moment thinking about how much she would love to sell homework, but she totally would if the price was right. Mostly she's thinking about how she's lucky to have gotten a class with"applied" in the name as her math for this term. Maybe she'll learn how to make a railgun.
Ribo isn't sure what this class will cover but is eager to find out. She doesn't see anyone she recognizes here yet so she finds a seat purely based on safety and availability.
Hira takes a seat next to Ennis!
"Good morning. I take it you're less excited about this class than I am?"
"I'm an alchemist," she sighs. "A cosmetics alchemist. It didn't seem lethal enough to risk switching around, but I don't understand why I was put in it."
"Wow, bad luck. I've got a yearmate who's in four maths but he asked for them."
"In terms of hours a week it isn't that bad, and math is easy to buy homework for, it's just puzzling."
Mal is pretty sure this is gonna be the best class. It features "electro" and "mechanics", which are two of his favorite things, up there with "free" and "pizza".
He chooses a seat towards the back, where he can watch the room, and sits with legs cheerfully akimbo, taking up at least three people's worth of space.
"Maybe you have some unexpected synergy with an artificer this year. The school is just playing matchmaker."
"If I have synergy with an artificer it will be someone who makes mirrors or brushes or sponges or something, not someone into electromechanics, but it's a thought, I suppose."
"You never know. The school does mean to help, so sometimes it's worth trying to use what it gives us. This class won't help me much with my track, but my mundane skills have always played nicely with math and science. Find out what you can get from it, yeah?"
