"I'd be at all worried about the weight making it hard to take off," he allows. "Is scrying with messages just the ability to see you and say stuff? I have that but if you go really far away there'll be lag."

"Me and whatever product I'm looking at, yeah. And ideally you'd be able to hear things around me as well, but I can write down descriptions of everything if it only does vision. And I guess we should check if you being in Milliways will handle the language issue or if I'll need to repeat everything the shopkeepers say anyway. Lag won't be a problem; the kinds of stores that sell what you want are used to reclusive people sending proxies to do their shopping."

"I do not know about the translation bit but I can do something that you put on your shoulder or whatever that can see and hear and relay to me and receive what I say."

"The translation should be easy enough to test, I'll just lean out the door for a minute and ask someone to say something. Ah, and I'll need precious metals or gems or something to sell first, some shopkeepers don't take credit and if I bought anything on credit I'd need to make a second trip." Also, buying anything on credit when her source of the funds is another person who doesn't like her is scary and not in the way where she should obviously just do it anyway.

"Don't have any diamonds left?"

"I gave them all to the Lastwall government to stick in a vault so the geopolitical consequences of that much diamond existing would be good ones and not bad ones, but I could go back and get them to break a few bits off if you'd rather." Abadar bless His clerics and their dedication to not asking where you got things as long as you promise you didn't steal them.

"I mean, I can make more stuff, but I would like to know before I make it what it's for first. And do prefer that it be for something because if it's just a non-consumable commodity you'll crash the market."

"Oh, for this I was imagining I'd only spend it on magic items for you that you approved over not-scrying and I'd give the rest back afterwards. And Lastwall is probably going to use the diamonds to do things like 'try to find a way to close the Worldwound' and 'overthrow the country that damns most of its people to eternal torment' but I don't know what the intermediate steps will be. What things won't crash a commodity market but will be relatively fast to find a buyer for . . . spellsilver? It's a commodity but it gets used in pretty much all magic items, so I think selling a lot of it would make all magic items a little cheaper instead of making any one thing a lot cheaper? Oh, or books, you could make books that've been lost to history and it would take some time for the bookseller to look through them but I'd at least know who to go to."

"How much time would this add to the shopping trip over the spellsilver option?"

"Hmmm . . . Could be next to nothing if the guy I bring them to knows things I don't about how to authenticate books and it's actually easy, could be hours if they're not convinced and I have to haggle a bunch. Anything with spells in it is going to be easier to prove, but if you don't want to introduce a book worth of new spells without vetting them first that would be very reasonable. Best bet is probably a whole ancient library or some fraction thereof, so there's both unknown books and known-but-obscure ones."

"Didn't you have trouble fitting a statue of yourself in your magic bag, how are you going to fit a library - did you get a bigger magic bag -"

"If there's more than fit in the bag I can get a regular bag for the rest. I don't think most people's libraries are more than five hundred pounds of books? Maybe they were bigger before Earthfall and it'll have to be a random couple of shelves and not the whole library."

"Oh, it's by weight? - I assume it would be extremely distracting to just give you formats that weigh almost nothing - eh, maybe we should just do the spellsilver option."
