"Um.  If we missed anything you might've just said, my apologies, got distracted by actually doing the exomemory closet-raiding thing - or at least the setup - and then thinking about what I could do with it."

Wonder Woman hides a smile.

"Indeed. Let me repeat all that, then: welcome to your Justice League research facility. This is your access card. It will let you use a selected handful of teleporters to come and go from here — mostly the ones where we aren't worried about their location being revealed, at least until you take the class on covert teleporter access."

She gestures to the large windows lining one side of the room, which are currently letting in the arctic summer sun.

"All of the windows and the teleporter access are equipped with blast shields that you can drop in an emergency. There is an unconventional generator in the basement that supplies continuous power, but in case it fails, the teleporter has a backup battery that should suffice to evacuate. In case it doesn't, or you need to go out onto the ice, there are emergency rations and weather equipment in the locker by the door. Water is provided by desalination, the equipment for that is also in the basement."

She heads through a door to the other room — also well lit by sunlight, and apparently literally the only other room in the structure, not counting the basement.

"As you can see, it's unfurnished apart from these tables. But we do have high speed cameras for observing energetic reactions—" she points to a pair of ceiling-mounted cameras "—an automatic fire-suppression system, and an eyewash station. This research station is one of the ones that the League reserves for cases of 'there's something dangerous that we need to study all of a sudden', so we might need to requisition it back if there's a planet-endangering emergency, but the building usually goes unoccupied, so it's yours for as long as you need it. You can move whatever you want in here. The station is about two hundred miles from the closest anything, so you're free to conduct high-energy experiments or experiments requiring serious isolation."

She points at the controller for the alarm and fire systems.

"If you do feel the need to do an experiment on something that needs containing, please do turn off general teleporter access, just in case. Also, please avoid self-replicating technology, nano-technology, and demon summoning, all of which pretty much never go well. If you want to ask one of the League's magic users they can add some additional magical protections — currently, everything here is technological — but I suspect you can handle that yourself. Any questions for me?"

"Do not make apocalypse-in-a-can or sell my soul to anybody, yes ma'am.  I'm just going to go for 'don't do anything remotely autonomous without external review first' even.  Ah, no, no questions, or at least none that I think are likely to be your problem.  I might want to take a poke at Captain Cold's cold guns, I suppose, is there a process for that?  ...And I really should remind you that I really don't have any idea what I'm doing, no matter how effectively I can cheat.  They might've had magicians on screen, but the comics never really explained shit.  And I'm not exactly well-read in magical traditions considering that last Tuesday I mostly thought they weren't consistent with the evidence I had.  If you want to secure something against a Lantern I'm your girl, I think, but I am not actually a wizard.  Yet."  Growth mindset.  "Working on it."

"You can send a message to S.T.A.R. labs about getting access to a captured cold gun, but they'll probably take a little while to get back to you. And yes — I know you're not a wizard yet, but you were able to talk knowledgeably with two very powerful magical entities, and you're picking up new powers at an astonishing rate, so I figured it was only a matter of time," she admits with a smile. "I don't expect any upcoming magical disasters, so you probably have that time to get ready."

She steps back over to the teleporter room and gives a parting nod.

"Wildcard, it's has been a pleasure meeting you. The life of an adventurer is often fraught with unpleasant surprises, so it is always a nice change of pace when instead I get to meet a fellow striver-against-the-darkness. I'll let you get settled in, but please don't hesitate to call me if you need anything, or if you just want to talk. Or if you remember another apocalypse that we should be preparing for. I look forward to working more with you in the future."

"...If I'm honest, when the Witch Boy showed a personal interest in me...  'If someone asks if you're a god, you say yes', and then I was just bluffing like hell that I was the powerful entity he wanted to bargain with.  It was true from a certain point of view, maybe - but I would hold myself as somewhat distinct from the author."

"It's been an honor and a pleasure to meet you, too, ma'am."

She does have plenty of wizards and wizard-adjacent powersets to work with, if she's honest, now that she's tucked the access card away in her pocket.

...And she's going to break her semi-promise to herself to not do anything particularly magical without getting a thorough grounding in local magic first, damn it, because she needs a Lantern, and while they might not be magic in and of themselves, except when they are, Reds, they do work best with rituals.  With foci and symbology and meaningful things.

She'd like (<conjure-metals>, <conjure-gemstones>) again, please.  She's sure she could try to directly reify a staff from ~the primordium in Alicia Thorn's cosmology, but, better to have simpler things under her belt before she goes and tries to replicate essentially fiat-backed skills.  Plus, crafting it in detail gives it weight.  Both narratively and magically.

Over to you, Clara and also probably Ophelia.

It's simple enough, really, in its overall form, as far as they're thinking.  The stylization of the Green's stylization of a lantern, simple ellipsoids and a single truncated face to hold the Light, with, perhaps, a nicely diamond-tipped point on the top for stabbing and/or beam-o-warring with.

The 'lens' of the lantern is formed of two gradients, atop eachother - a rainbow wheel, with white-clear blending from purple to red at the top eighth, and white-proper also gradienting circularly from the centerpoint of the lens.

...It's what else they're putting on this that's going to be trouble, and if they need evocative wordsmithing, well, that's definitely Ophelia's job.

There are eight things she needs to figure out how to evoke.  Perhaps more than that, even.

The words they choose to inlay along the surface of the staff - Diana's been an Indigo, before, albeit a jailbroken one, and honestly they just think it's cool anyway, so long as they can hold on to it - those words need to epitomize their approach as much as to establish the Light they are invoking.

It's a rather vulnerable way to make this work.  But it's not as if they will not articulate all of this a thousand times over, in bits and pieces.

...Also, [REDACTED] is pulling out a lot of references.

You cannot tolerate intolerance.  To hate hatred is no paradox; bigotry and abuse are betrayals of the social contract by which we all should live.

Your right to swing your fist ends where someone else's face begins.

Live well and kindly, you who read this message, for it will spite the people who would revel in the suffering they caused moreso than anything else could hope to achieve.

Sic semper tyrannis.

Turn selfishness into a weapon!  Make all things yours!  Make other lives and dreams and hopes yours!  Protect them!  Save them!  Bring them into the sheepfold!  Walk the gale for them!  Keep away the wolf!  [...]  How dare you try to take these things, because they are mine!  I have a duty!

Peace is a lie, there is only passion. / Through passion I gain strength, / Through strength I gain power, / Through power I gain victory, / Through victory my chains are broken; / The Force shall free me.

(And while they're doing Star Wars references, in Mandalorian color theory the word best glossed as 'lust(platonic) for life' is already orange.)

I must not fear.  Fear is the mind killer, fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.  I will face my fear.  I will permit it to pass over me and through me.  And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.  When the fear has gone there will be nothing.  Only I will remain.

Courage is not the absence of fear.  It is knowing that you are afraid, and choosing to act regardless.

* Understanding the reference on this staff fills you with DETERMINATION.

There is no such thing as willpower.  But there is such a thing as firm moral convictions.

Plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the world, "No, YOU move."

It matters not how strait the gate, / How charged with punishments the scroll, / I am the naster of my fate / I am the captain of my soul.

YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES. / "So we can believe the big ones?" / YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING. / "They're not the same at all!" / YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET— AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED. / "Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point—" / MY POINT EXACTLY.

I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people.  (But you should.  It's good for you.)

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people are created equal, and are endowed in their creation with certain unalienable rights, among them Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I dedicate this Light to Sable, whose love and care for everyone - and I do mean everyone, even and indeed especially you, person reading this thinking you're unloveable - has always been an inspiration.

No greater force can shape the soul, / Than love that makes a person whole. / It changes hearts and helps them see, / The best of who they’re meant to be.

All Things Strive.

In Life’s name and for Life’s sake, I assert that I will employ the Light which is its gift in Life’s service alone, rejecting all other usages. I will guard growth and ease pain. I will fight to preserve what grows and lives well in its own way; and I will change no object or creature unless its growth and life, or that of the system of which it is part, are threatened. To these ends, in the practice of this Art, I will put aside fear for courage, and death for life, when it is right to do so — till Universe’s end.

It's rather like forging kyber crystal, in its own way.  Less immense heat and pressure involved, but certainly no less depth of feeling.

If anything, the part she's most uncertain of is the Wizard's Oath.  But she thinks she means it, at least most of the way, and she thinks the White already understands where she's coming from with her, mm, reservations about non-transhumanism, given what happened with the surge of Life earlier that made she-doesn't-know-if-he's-going-to-be-named-Connor more of a Whole Kryptonian than a Half Kryptonian.  (And reshaped them, but they hardly count, that was definitely impacting their quality of life moreso than the lack of laser eyes had actually affected anything.  ...It's really more of a prophylactic against Meddling For Meddling's Sake as far as they're concerned.)

The last step left, then, is to actually call the Light into the vessel they have crafted for it, and hope it will actually stick this time.

This isn't The Light that you get on Azeroth (it isn't Life, either), but they've had thoughts that the process can't be that unsimilar for a decent while.  Invoking a cosmic force of Light that is part of the underpinnings of reality, causing it to upwell within a Thingy...

Well, Lightwell does exist as a spell, so there's some precedent.

"Open your heart to the Light," she murmurs, because the voice line is playing in their head anyway.  They always did like the Exodar.

But to actually call upon the primordial White, in Life's name and for Life's sake - to bind it to a beacon of life and wellbeing that will illuminate the world - falls inexorably to her.  She is a paladin.  And she can do this, even as theoretically unpracticed as she is.  She needs only but a spark.
