"Are you sure? It sounds fairly plausible to me."

"I have the scar to prove it," Sara says, making to hike up the back of her shirt.

She sticks out her tongue at the two of them. "I know how you actually got that scar, sis."

"But Miss Davis doesn't."

"Do you want me to not tell her?"

"Is yours a better story?"

"It's a more true story."

"Share, then."

"We were at a playground - one of those kinda old abandoned ones without any padded surfaces, so, a nice playground - and me and my friends had been doing tricks like jumping from the swings, and Sara insisted on joining us even though she was pretty much a baby, and then she fell out of the swing and landed on a stick. No art vampires or blood ink anywhere to be seen."

Ellie laughs.

"Luckily my friends weren't too annoyed about needing to take the token little sibling to find a first aid station, so she got to keep following us around afterwards."

"How fortunate."

"She was very cute. It would've been a shame to leave her behind."

"She still is."

"Good thing you're taking us both to lunch, then."

"She might take us both to that nice Indian place we were eyeing for my birthday, too," she teases. "Get you a pretty silk cushion to kneel on..."

"Oooh."

"I think... Blue, maybe, for you... Though red would also be lovely." She leans toward her sister a bit, lowering her voice. 

(Also, she thinks she knows what present to get Sara next time she gets her a gift...)

"Definitely red for you, though."

"I could also pull off a purple. Or an orange - especially a nicely autumny one."

"True, true."

"Maybe a darker red - something moody - for you, a warm orange for me... If we're coordinating, of course. Or a lighter blue might be lovely by a warm orange..."

"Don't forget to account for your respective outfits, as long as we're eating in public."

"Of course. We'll have to make sure we're a matched set."
