Riley looks around for any enclave students who might need someone to pick up their maintenance shifts. It shouldn't be hard to find the type: rich, surrounded by enclavemates, and more uncomfortable than average.
That makes him the perfect person for Riley to introduce himself to.
"Hi. Hope I'm not bothering you. My name is Riley. Riley Finn."
"I'm looking to meet people who might be in need of a little help this year. I hope you don't mind my saying, but you don't look like someone who should be using your hands for maintenance shifts."
Yes, she'd break a nail - don't say that, he'll think it's sarcastic - "Oh, it would be nice to have the time freed up."
"Think you could get me a seat with your enclave? During dinner or in the library, whatever works for you."
"We've a corner in the library, easier to find space for another. I can introduce you to everyone but I don't believe we're meeting there till Saturday."
This student looks like he would rather fade into the wall, forgotten, then talk to someone.
Seems worth trying, though; Riley Finn doesn't turn down a challenge.
"Hey. How're you doing?"
Virgil startles.
"I'm- um, I'm fine. I was just- this is- it's the Scholomance."
"That's all true, yeah. Sorry if I scared you. I just wanted to get to know some people. We're all going to be in here for a while, right?"
"Sorry, just making conversation. What's your affinity? I make potions that improve fighting skill."
That barely sounds like a real affinity. What's this guy's deal? Why is he so talkative, anyway?
"-sorry, I didn't mean to pry. I'll just leave you to it, huh? Enjoy your corner."
Riley goes off to look for more people.
