"This is not necessary. The information that when we capture cultists alive we let the Sarenrites try to save them is not new or interesting to the cultists' patrons, or if it is now soon won't be."

"But if they pretended to leak military information, and the cultists believed it, it could be really helpful!"

"Or if they noticed they were lying they'd know more than they otherwise would."

(A few of the people in Blai's general vicinity have been visibly trying and failing to hide nervousness throughout the conversation.)

"This does not strike me as a worthwhile strategic avenue quite apart from how I'm not allowed to lie and would not encourage it in others." Anything connecting the nervous ones?

Not obviously; they aren't standing particularly near each other, or anything like that. One of them looks vaguely familiar from Kenabres, the other two don't.

Have they had any input in the conversation?

They have not.

He picks one. "You've been quiet."

"—Sir?" he squeaks.

"Do you have anything to say on the subject? Questions?"

"No sir. That all makes sense to me."

"Can you explain it back so I can know it's coming across correctly?"

"No one should pray to Evil gods no matter what, except for Asmodeus, because it could help those gods learn more. Sir."

"And why except for Asmodeus?"

"Because Cheliax and the Order of the Godclaw worship him, and they're our allies. —I wouldn't pray to Asmodeus."

"I didn't expect you to, He's not very popular outside those groups. Thank you."

"Was that all, sir."

"Yes.". He pays no conspicuous mind to the others beyond noting their distinguishing features. Do they do nametag coats on this army or do you only do that if people read.

They do not do nametag coats here, no. Some people are wearing rank insignia but not any of these three.

He might need to require nametag coats so that if there is something other than Fucking Brain Noise going on there they could at least narrow down whose coats they took. But it could easily just be Fucking Brain Noise. If anyone's interested he will explain the concept of intervention budget to make it more comprehensible how it might be useful to impede divine activity you cannot outright prevent.

...Literally no one in this conversation shows any sign of having heard of the concept before.

"If that's true why's there even a Worldwound?" someone eventually asks.

"What were you imagining about this concept would prevent it?"

"If the demons are allowed to have a giant portal to the Abyss that's way bigger than anything any of the Good gods are doing."

"Things sometimes happen without gods doing them - or in this case the ability to open the Wound is likely to have been precipitated by Aroden's death, which is sort of a thing a god was doing. Also Areelu Vorlesh is understood have been involved and she's not a god."

"Everyone knows Deskari helped."

 "And Baphomet is helping too."

"If a human made a giant portal to Heaven would Heaven be allowed to send as many angels as it wanted?"

"Certainly the gods do things and sometimes do dramatic things and it is, probably, costing both of Baphomet and Deskari elsewhere that they participated in this way, but that doesn't stop them from doing it... Probably not, the spells-to-angels ratio is already established in how much various spells can accomplish."
