"I didn't do that on purpose, I swear!" He grabs it out of the air and hands it more firmly to Thall.

The wizards can all stare at it under Detect Magic for a little while, but it's Nenio who speaks up first. "The techniques here are very dissimilar to those used in the present day! I suspect it to be of Azlanti or Thassilonian make. Unfortunately, the damage is interfering with the flow of the magic, but despite that it appears to slightly enhance one's ability to comprehend some aspects of arcane magic."

"Do you think I'll be able to get it with a Make Whole?"

"I am uncertain! The magical auras associated with the marble are quite strong, so I suspect you have not yet attained sufficient mastery over divine magic to reestablish the damaged channels within it, but you could test my hypothesis quite easily."

"Well, if you knew about how confident to be about it I'd know how heavily to trade it off against other slot uses."

"What alternative experiments would this be displacing?"

"Unforeseen ones, mostly."

"That makes it difficult to assess which would be more informative." She thinks for a moment. "If you are able to repair the marble it will indicate that I severely underestimated your magical prowess or significantly misunderstood the underlying mechanisms contributing to the marble's magical aura."

"All right. Please let me know when you think I have a better than even chance at it."

"I will endeavor to do so. ...You may need to remind me if you desire an updated analysis."

"I will also try to remember to ask periodically, yes."

There does not appear to be. It's quite a small dungeon, all things considered.

As he's leaving the dungeon, he sees another one of the people in long dark robes and white masks waiting nearby.

"The absence of an answer is an answer too."

She turns to walk away.

Okay how fast is she.

Faster once he starts chasing her! 

"—Should I go after her, I think I'm the fastest runner here." Seelah's horse is faster but the terrain isn't great for it.

"I would really like to know what's going on with these folks, but I don't want to start hitting them with spells, they aren't doing crimes and I was only willing to propose arresting the next one to show up in the army camp because loitering without authorization in a military camp is a sight more suspicious. Do you think you can catch her?"

"If I go after her now, probably. Not if I wait much longer."

"Go for it, don't waste too much time on it."

He takes off.

He's really remarkably fast; a few moments later, he shouts out triumphantly, "Got her!"
