Ghassan schmoozes Dennis, another kid from a small enclave

Ghassan looks for members of enclaves who are taking a moment away from them. That's the perfect time to make a connection. The Dubai enclave has not built the alliances that he'll need to make it through the next four years, and he needs to make at least one friend who can watch his back in the next few weeks. This boy looks like he's with a smaller enclave. A good contact to make. When he finds the chance, he approaches with his usual friendly smile.

"Glad to see another small enclaver. Sometimes it can feel as though the larger enclaves suck up all the air in the room, no?"

Dennis pulls himself away from eying EVERY VENT IN THIS ROOM. Probably anything coming through the vents will get zapped by the dozens of seniors in here, making friends is probably more important right now.

"They certainly try," he says, and hopes that sounded like it made sense. (It does make sense. Half his friends are going to die, and that's if he gets lucky and Owoye doesn't. He's a little bitter. But not at this guy, this guy doesn't sound like he's American.) "Dennis Awolowo, Lagos. Where are you from?"

"Ghassan Al-Maroun, Dubai. The others from Dubai are all very nice people. Their parents love them. They are all hugging each other, instead of making contacts. My affinity is for poisons, and you have a watchful eye. We could both use someone to gather supplies with."

Which could extend into a broader pact, but it's too early for that; he doesn't even know what Dennis can do, yet.

Dubai is probably a solid place to make some contacts. Poisons sounds kind of sketchy, but he supposes nobody can help what their affinity is.

"Supplies sound good. I don't think we should go with only two people who just had their mana sucked, though, if we died on the first day it would just be embarrassing." Also they would be dead, but he's trying to sound cool, here.

"I completely agree. I have a few interested buyers in one of the poisons I have distilled, but that is not the same thing as a group for supply runs. Have you met any friendly indies?"

Useful, more than friendly, but friendly can't hurt.

"I've mostly been getting acquainted with the other African enclaves; we try to stick together. Addis Ababa has some cool people this year. And the other freshman from Lagos is around here somewhere, he'd go with us. Not sure that's enough, but it's a start."

"I have contacts in Kiev and Beijing."

Prospective buyers, not anything more reliable, but Dennis who already has other people to go on supply runs with doesn't need to know that.

"We should all meet later for a visit to get supplies. Look for me before you leave?"

"Sure. I'll see if I can find some more people and then come looking in, I dunno, half an hour or so?"

"Perfect. See you then."

With that settled, Ghassan will get himself a cup of water. There won't be as many chances to meet someone from such a large pool after the first day.
