It can do intuition for the principles behind accessing and channeling the elemental planes? Is that the kind of thing she's thinking of, or is she more thinking of "understanding how psychometric impressions are recorded in each plane"?

"you know, the bits of this light that aren't part of the general baseline suite of things that an emotional spectrum colors can do" isn't a valid baseline power, no, because it hasn't been directly granting her any parts of what a color can do — it has been granting her depth of feeling, knowledge, understanding, and localized supporting effects. She's the one actually doing the things, here. But it could definitely do knowledge of or skill with the things that one particular color can do that the others can't?

... does she want a knowledge power for knowing what general classes of things are easier with one color than with another color?

Oh! 

Yes she very much would like that power. 

She wasn't thinking that would be an option! 

It has to trade off pretty hard on generality to make knowledge of all seven lights fit, so this power is going to miss some more nuanced or particular applications. But ....

Love: it is easier to imprison people for their own good, easier to stir heights of emotion, and easier to empower loved ones.

Compassion: it is easier to heal, to understand both what someone means and what someone needs, and easier to imitate.

Hope: it is easier to heal, easier to see the future, and easier to support other colors.

Will: it is easier to control precisely what expression the light takes, leaving applications limited only by one's imagination and strength.

Fear: it is easier to make people weaker, easier to see the future, easier to project your own thoughts and emotions in a way that is easily understood.

Avarice: it is easier to imitate, easier to project your own thoughts, and easier to hold onto things.

Rage: it is easier to stir heights of emotion, easier to harm others, and easier to trim and direct the self.

...That is... pretty unhelpful? Though it's perhaps a start - there's a - symmetrical structure there that's kind of interesting...? Really the goal here is to find a bit about what - options she has with the different colors that isn't so much indicated by "What the green lanterns are doing", say. Which is plenty enough to start, but a pretty... biased sample. 

Could you do a power for just the preferred applications of the violet light instead, please? 

Sure!

One spark is pushed away, and another takes its place.

Violet light is powerful, undiminished, uncontrolled, possessive yet liberating, fundamentally oriented around connection. It makes it easier to do things for and to and with the people you love. A user of the violet light has a lower steady power output compared to other lights, but higher surge power. The attitude and motivation one brings to violet light work is substantially more important than the details of what exactly the light is doing to achieve an effect. Clarity of visualization still helps, but it's less important.

Putting biological beings in safe, reversible cryosuspension is much easier to accomplish with violet light than the other colors. So is splitting an existing violet ring in two, to share. Splitting a green ring is possible, but it results in one ring being subordinate to the other, and energy split between them; splitting a violet ring in two produces two violet rings that are no less powerful, equals in every way. On the other hand, one can only do so to share a violet ring with a true love. Violet light is also good at expressions of light that orient around or piggyback on interpersonal connection, including communication.

This spark feels deeper and more intuition-y than the general overview provided by the last one.

Oh that's interesting!

'true love' is an interesting thing to have in a magic system - she'll have to see if she can do more tricks with it later. It could be really convenient if Sindella and Giovanni had it, if the empathic connection stuff works how she's hoping it will. 

She pokes her thoughts at it and it looks like there's some sort of... special crystallization process involved? Can you do anything else with bodies in them...? Those crystals seem pretty neat - can you like, stabilize those and use them for other applications? 

Is it rings (and/or ring like violet light manipulators w/out that form factor, possibly?) specifically that can split like that, or any violet light artifact? 

Oh and - she got sidetracked! 

And yeah, she was skipping a step when talking about the color specialties. Skill with the things that one particular color does that the others can't would be plenty good and fit for purpose. 

So that's... 3 of them locked in. 

The magic one, infusion, color-specialities-skill (if she can get them to synergize nicely, anyways).

As for the other concern... 

She was thinking something closer to a skill with manipulating and interacting with those sorts of elemental light psychometric patterns? The way those are recorded are less important than how she can sort of... replicate those or move them around or what have you. She already knows the basic skillset for reading emotional impressions from an amenable storage medium, so that shouldn't be too much of a limitation. It's okay if it has to be a bit more general and if manipulating in situ of a soul would be largely out of scope? Though something broader could be okay, too. 

You can apply various light effects through the crystals. Stabilizing the crystals themselves is a harder prospect, but it doesn't seem impossible.

Any violet light artifacts can split like that — rings are metonomy.

Oh! That makes sense. It could do a power for handling elemental light psychometric patterns without unintentional distortions? That would let her use thaumaturgy to pull impressions out of the elemental planes without unintentionally mixing them with her own patterns.

Ooh shiny new cloning method unlocked? She bets with a bunch of life powers she can imbue a living body and give copies of herself to other people if she falls enough in love with them.

No but honestly though, that's something... good to keep in mind for later ^^

She blinks a bit. 

Wait, would that be one power per color to do that or just one power period? 

It's a small enough power that it can formulate it either way. It has more wiggle room to do a slightly broader scope of skill in the 'per color' version, but either way works.

Yeah that sounds like something that she'd want to do outside of it, if it's something - less fundamental and more the kind of thing she can readily do indirectly? 

So... 

What does she want? 

Hm. There's probably enough things you can do with channeling each of the emotional energy planes that she can make a good use of the space of all seven powers, right? There's probably a lot of tricky things that you can do with channeling historical emotions and doing things like making lanterns and special sites and... 

'accessing it', hm.  

Going planewalking could be valuable, and probably the overflow of it should just be useful for general purpose manipulation? 

Yeah, she's pretty much convinced this would be a reasonably good option. 

Last one... constructs, sure? 

She'll write that down for now, but she'll need to talk to someone about it before like, actually doing anything. 

She'll ditch that power, and think a bit about what she wants for the rest of the day. She'll make sure everything is set up properly on her devices and accounts and send off her contacts to Giovanni to relay off to Zatanna. 

...Yeah.

And, indeed, Zatanna comes tumbling out of the teleporter about 15 minutes later. Her hair is up in a bun, and she's swapped out the fuzzy bunny slippers for black buckled boots with a low heel, but she's otherwise dressed much as she was at dinner.

She fusses a little with her own dress, then spends the wait going through the lil tiny demo projects that she made for green light training - the simple certainty of the achievability and their designed purpose is enough to catalyze their creation with the bits of experience she has now. 

The moment the announcement plays, she jumps over to the zeta tube, and rushes over to help her up, arm outstretched to either help her up or just offer her a handshake (either works)! 

"Hi! Great to see you!" 

She grins a little. 

"Did you have anything in mind for what to get up to first? Feels a little like we haven't really met properly yet but at the same time I'm not too sure what more there is to say? And there's so many possibilities for projects and so much to do and so many ways to do it, too!"
