She snorts. "Go bother someone else."

"Who else lives here?"

"A bunch of annoying beasts and men who might as well be beasts. Now, unless you want to join the turnips in my soup, fuck off! I’ve always room in my stew pot for more meat!"

Tomas switches back to Taldene. "We should leave. I don't think she's going to be of any help."

She huffs and switches to Taldene. "'Not going to be of any help'. Pah. It's not like anyone ever helps me."

A language she can understand! And she's starting to get a sense of who this... orc wizard? Maybe? That would be a weird combination, but it probably happens sometimes... is. If she does this just right...

"We may be able to change that, madam. As I understand it, we are the first to have heard the potential for something of value within the tower over there." She nods to the giant statue lighthouse thing. There was a hint of stress on the 'first' there — it sounds unintentional, but it definitely could be a sign they aren't the only ones.

"If there is a purpose to which you would put us, your experience with the area would most certainly be valuable to our interests. If we are the first to get in and back out, well." A gesture with her hands — you know how this goes, don't you? "The secrets within are best sold only once, and most likely not valuable a second time. While your past encounters may not have wished to help you, I believe we can make a deal." She speaks calmly and respectfully, though she does glance to the statue every once in a while. A brief flick of her eyes at the mention of 'past encounters', and a sniff — her disregard for the average human doesn't come through perfectly, but of course she expects no actual thought of mutual benefit from most idiots. Who would?

Unsaid: They are not the only ones here. There's something valuable in the tower, and word got out. If they do their job promptly, they can get back and cut off any other groups from following them. If they are slow, fail, or die, more people will come, and bring with them all the noise and disrespect endemic to adventurers. Tencednil isn't only offering her a deal, she's offering her the best chance to finish this without large groups crowding in. Of course, if she really wants that to work, she will need them to keep quiet about the origin of their discoveries, and to get that she would need to actually ask. Perhaps it would be easier if she spent some actual time talking to them? Tencednil seems to understand how most people aren't worth interacting with, and she might be persuaded to keep quiet about this without too much effort. She seems to understand the value of whispers.

She looks unamused at the prospect of more people showing up to bother her. "There is a task you could do for me. There's a larger island to the west of this one. Off the north coast is a shipwreck. There's a rare type of seaweed that grows on and around it. Perhaps you could fetch me some for my soup."

Seems reasonable enough. She turns to Yanor, who is in practice the one they all listen to here, and raises an eyebrow.

Yanor nods. "Can we cross your island to get there?"

"I will allow it. I suspect the ship may be haunted. Knock on my door when you've collected the seaweed. Good luck!" She turns around and disappears into the fog.

Haunted? Delightful. "I have some options against undead, but the more ghostly undead are an issue. Do you know how capable they are of sight through solid objects? The sound of our presence is easily produced, and a ghost who listens for sound might be drawn out to at least provide us with advance warning."

A voice echoes from the within fog. "They're not ghosts. Wouldn't send you after ghosts..."

"Thank you!" Impressive hearing! ...actually that's just the fog, isn't it. Right.

"Shall we be off, then?"

Yanor nods and crosses the bridge.

Maroux's island is fairly small. It only takes a couple of minutes to reach the other side and cross the channel to the larger island. It's currently high tide and they have to swim.

She isn't great at swimming! Julen is actually better than she is even while wearing his armor. She can manage, though, with some assistance. Her Anytool can be unfolded into a flipper-thing, and with that, she's confident in her ability to swim across calm water.

Crossing the larger island takes longer. This place doesn't seem inhabited by anything other than mundane animals.

Eventually, they reach the northern beach. It's still quite foggy. No shipwreck is visible.

Yanor sends his owl up into the air to scout.

"If there are any undead, I expect we will prefer them prompted from out of immediate reach. I have about thirty-five feet of range on my Ghost Sound."

The owl returns and speaks with Yanor. He gestures. "The shipwreck is about forty feet that way. There are animate skeletons in the water. Perhaps we should try to lure them to the coast with your magic?"

"To the coast or in a cluster. A Burst should cleanly ash standard human skeletons," or elven skeletons or any other sort of sort of city-dweller, but she knows how to put this, "and if we can group them tightly it may be the most efficient approach."

She turns to the weapon-users. "Do either of you have options for blunt force? Penetrating strikes are liable to fail against skeletons, if there are more of them or if they are more spread than I can handle in one strike."

"I'm afraid not. I use a rapier only."

"I've some light hammers with me. Shortswords are my speciality but they won't be effective against skeletons."

"I can hit things with my walking stick. Sometimes."

"Against bones, hammers are most likely more effective than shortswords, yes. With luck it will prove unnecessary either way."

A Message to all of them. "For easy communications in battle."

And she nods to Lhín.
