We do. If we're interrupted again during the next pivot...

URGATHOAN CULT DESTROYED BY UNKNOWN FORCE

The papers aren't sure what to make of the cult. It's certainly good they were destroyed before they could start spreading that horrible plague. But who was it that destroyed them? The Guard doesn't know. Some of the wells in Old Korvosa have been closed for inspection. The blood veil spores weren't infused into the drinking water, but they did get into the sewers. There shouldn't be any backflow, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious. Unrest grows. The depths stir.

Alright, so this is early enough to prevent the plague. That will throw off her letters to the conspiracy, so they probably will guess there are at least two Things happening now? She has no idea what they'll do about that, but it might throw off the Mantis, if the Mantis being present was conspiracy-related.

And that leaves her with no particular urgent goals. What a strange feeling. No active events to respond to, nothing evident coming up, and no obvious reason to push things in any specific direction.

Lhín is back, though. That's good. It would have been strange for the demiplane to do something permanent to her, but she has no idea how Lhín actually works, so it wasn't impossible.

Any letters today?

Tencednil has one letter waiting for her at the Bank. It's from Yanor. He has discovered something of potentially great value within the Thassilonian gems. Whatever he found isn't within or beneath Korvosa. He is looking to form an adventuring party. If she's interested, she should write back with a time and location where they can meet.

She will write back! He won't get it until tomorrow, so... tomorrow, a little before noon, but where?

She rolls some dice.

Cliffside, generally to the south, close to but not at the actual cliff. She will write back in a little bit, after looking around the area for reasonably private places they might be able to talk.

The Bank sends her letter. It will be waiting with Yanor's account next time he checks his mail.

She checks in with the guard about the sewers — are they stirred up like last time? The blood veil didn't get anywhere near as far this time around.

The sewer creatures seem somewhat agitated because of the blood veil. The Guard plans to send more squads down sometime in the next few days.

"Alright, thank you!"

She may be second circle, but she is not going to dive into the sewers while they're angry. She has no better way to deal with a gibbering mouther than she did when coming up from fetching the amulet, for instance. Seems like it will be another boring day.

She tries to hunt down that Academae student who was in danger of failing out who she remembers from... months ago by her time, yesterday by Golarion's except that it didn't happen. Maybe wizards have better words for this. If she can find him, he's not actually worth the spells but he... sort of helped her? Being available if he's desperately searching for someone instead of letting him fail seems appropriate. She won't offer him a good deal or anything, but she can offer better than him never figuring out how to hang a spell properly and having an Academae student who knows he owes her something is probably useful in more situations than the minor extra coin she can get from selling her slots more directly.

If she doesn't find him, she can still sell her spells in some other way. One way or another, she gets to the end of the day without much happening.

It's been a long time since Tencednil last tutored that student. She finds him again. It's later in the week than last time and he's even more rushed. After many castings of color spray he's starting to get the hang of it.

Fortunately for him, she has a lot of Color Sprays per day at this point.

...she's feeling nice. She will even spend some of her second circle slots on the last few Color Sprays he needs. Ten should be enough. She doesn't actually need the slots, and there's nothing gained by preserving resources. Be nice when it's free! It's only when it matters that you have to make a choice.

And eventually, back home and to sleep.

TURMOIL IN THE GREAT HOUSES CONTINUES

The weather is bright and sunny. The high nobility continue their current fit of squabbling, although none seem to agree on what exactly they're squabbling about. Perhaps the Urgathoan cult had its tendrils deeper than most imagined. The Acadamae holds its graduation ceremony. Seventy-one of the hundred students in this cohort lived to become journeymen wizards; a few more than is typical.

She probably should have attended the graduation ceremony, the speech almost certainly had wording she could have used as a passcode at some point. Oh well.

Any letters for her? If not, she'll make her way to her nominated meeting place, and wait for Yanor's arrival.

Yanor replied to her letter. That time and location works for him. He will be there.

Oh, he got it yesterday! She should have proposed an earlier meeting time. Oh well, so it goes.

She arrives fifteen minutes in advance, and spends ten minutes looking around the area and the next five acquiring a table for them. She also mentions that she expects someone else to meet her here, gives a reasonable description of Yanor which somewhat overstates his positive physical qualities, and attempts to give the impression she's meeting a sweetheart. It's a good excuse for them to be quiet and attempting not to be overheard!

She asks for somewhere to sit with a little bit of privacy. In context, it shouldn't be too memorable, and someone who actually knows the environment will be better at this than her attempts to rederive it from first principles. (Or Lhín's, no matter how confident she sounds. They do agree, though, so maybe she should have just trusted Lhín? Still less strange this way.)

Yanor arrives almost exactly on time. He has a backpack slung over his shoulder and is carrying a small stack of scrolls.

He sits down across from her. "Hello! How have you been these past few days?"

"I'm doing well. I was called by the Guard for their investigation of the Urgathoans, but that was substantially less interesting than expected. Not that I will object to possible attempts at infecting all Korvosa with a horrific disease failing spontaneously, but it does mean I have less of an interesting story to tell. Yourself? It sounds like your research has been successful, but I anticipate there is more than that to the story."

"I believe I have located a yet undiscovered complex. An old fortress created by the Runelord Sorshen. It's underground and in a rather inconvenient location to reach. Far away from Korvosa."

"How far from Korvosa? If we will require space in a scheduled Teleport, I will need to see your reasoning to convince myself it is worth the price, though I am certainly open to being so convinced. If we need to charter one of our own... It will require more convincing, unless you find yourself wealthier than I anticipated.

"Fifty miles south of Magnimar, so around five hundred miles from here. I have a spell that creates a magically propelled raft. It would be a few weeks of travel that way. I can conjure food and extradimensional shelter. Or we can buy spots on a teleport. I think it will be worth it. The information I recovered indicates... well... they don't call it treasure. Logs of imported goods. A large amount of magic items and valuable components. Everything a fortress built by an archmage from the Age of Legend would need."

"There is a Teleport route to Magnimar, though bulk good transport is typically by ship. I would definitely anticipate such a find to be highly valuable... How certain are you this has not already been discovered, and its contents removed? Even in that case there is most likely something of a Teleport slot's worth of value, but it is worth calibrating my expectations."

"It's deep underground. Near the Lady's Light, which according to sailor legend is famously cursed. Not that I've been able to find much evidence of a real curse. The passive defenses are considerable. Impossible to scry into, impossible to teleport into, impassable to ethereal and incorporeal creatures, impassable to burrowing creatures, a host of permanent spells I didn't realize were possible at all, et cetera."

"A rumored curse does seem indicative there is more than nothing there, for one reason or another. And if nothing else, I expect someone will pay for good diagrams of new permanent spells, and few looters would destroy those."

She pauses for a minute or two, then gives a quick sharp nod. "Alright, that seems worth spending the up-front cost on. What sort of risks do you anticipate?"
