It's time. Manohar's hand-picked assault force contains a host of bearded devils, an immolation devil, a sixth circle wizard, a squad of third circle wizards, a third circle cleric, and himself.

They descend from the sky under the cover of mass invisibility and silence.

There are some guards at the entrance of the Ornelos Hall and some wizards scattered about the Acadamae grounds.

He ensnares the guards within a complex hallucination. That spell has no verbal components.

None of them notice the assault force enter the building.

The invisible door is close to the entrance of the Ornelos Hall. A squad of guards and a wizard are in the room with it.

He steps forward out of the silence.

Cone of cold.

The guards and the wizard are frozen and unconscious on the floor.

The third circle wizards are ready to cast. Just in case.

The sixth circle wizard moves forward out of the silence and stands next to the invisible door.

Antimagic field.

The magnificent mansion ceases to exist. Everyone inside is shunted out where the invisible door used to be.

A wizard is a wizard. A devil is a devil.

Within an antimagic field, a wizard is only a man, but a devil is still a devil.

Toff Ornelos is an eighth circle wizard. He is well-prepared, incredibly wealthy, and paranoid beyond reason. Without magic, almost all of this is worthless. He has no way to stand against a pack of devils specializing in martial combat without his spells. He is clearly doomed.

When the antimagic field resolves, a lead cone immediately springs into being surrounding him with a faint ripping noise—

Toff makes his save. Try harder next time. Not all eighth circle wizards are equal. Brats like you should respect your elders.

The leaders of Korvosa's noble families are currently strewn across the floor. Many are pinned beneath an oversized lead cone. Some are climbing to their feet and drawing weapons.

The sixth circle wizard stumbles backward and dismisses the antimagic field.
