Hopefully that stays in Solstheim. No one holds a grudge like a mer.

Some Nords have been talking of joining one side or the other, or trying to take back Morrowind, but - this old soldier's opinion is there's no one to rally them right now, the current High King is basically useless, and there's too much disagreement among the Nords right now to actually get an army going.

Let them fight themselves, is Elana's opinion.

Less Nord blood spilt, that way.

Indeed.

Lace is a bit uneasy after.

"I think the war might escalate," she says quietly. "Possibly in ways that interfere with us..."

"Your visions?"

She nods. "Some of it's - I don't know. Echoing."

"Solstheim's a long way from here..."

"Yeah. Hopefully we won't be dragged into all that, but..."

"There is not much we can do but remain watchful."

She nods. "Unfortunately so."

Time to press on?

Sure.

There's roads running to Mzinchaleft, at least, maintained by the Dwemer for trade, skirting past Morthal. Nothing accosts them on the road, and they're permitted along with the other Nordic travelers into the above ground town (mostly markets) sprawling around the elevators that descend into the depths - but only dwemer and those outsiders approved by the Council are being actually permitted down.

How can they get approved by the Council?

You send a letter. Council usually approves people with backing. Diplomatic teams, scholars, and the like.

"Well," she says to Lace. "We can send a letter, or we can try sneaking onto the elevator."

She hums. "I don't think sending a letter would make sneaking harder, but it would delay us if we waited for a reply, possibly by several days... Sneaking onto the elevator would make getting permission harder, though, and it seems easier to get in with permission then keep sneaking..."

Her brow furrows. "We could probably pass ourselves off as scholars, but we'd want to convince them to let us in..."

"Revealing an Elder Scroll already in our possession may be helpful in that approach."

"Risky. They might try to take it, since that's not something they need us alive to use..."

"True. Perhaps just pieces of the visions, then. Trade that information for the chance to see other scrolls."

She nods, humming. "That's most likely to get us directly to the scroll, yeah. - I could also probably trade some of my other world knowledge even if only for access to the city, and we could sneak the rest of the way..."

"If they're not interested in your visions, we can use that."

Hm. "Possibly first from you, second from me? So it's not obvious that we might try to break in to the Elder Scroll."

"That makes sense."
