Of course, eventually their toy collapses against them, shaking.

"There, there," Eliese pets her head. "You've done very well today."

The girl whines a bit and presses her face into Eliese's shoulder.

"Ah - thank you - ma'am."

Eliese hugs her. "Good girl."

That gets her another whine.

Eliese laughs.

Acererak nuzzles the girl, then gives Eliese a quick kiss. "Shall we move on to the others, then?"

"Yes, they must be feeling terribly neglected."

"Can't have that."

She pats the helper once more.

"You can take a little break."

"Th- Thank you, ma'am."

And off to see to the rest of their flock.

It's dwindled a good bit, by now. (Acererak's earlier defiant victim is only alive on a technicality). The handful they haven't killed already are very, very miserable.

Then they will simply squeeze what the can out of those that remain.

Healing spells are helpful for that - the handful barely clinging on to life can be brought back for another go around, and those alive can have their misery rather nicely extended.

Still, Acererak isn't in the mood to accumulate too many pets, and working through the remaining girls is fun.

Their ship is large enough to accommodate a few, but yes, they should be choosy.

Working to destruction is just as fun.

Perhaps keep the best soloist and their little helper, of this group.

That sounds like a good plan.

Acererak shows off a few creative uses of spells on the last few - turning pieces of flesh to stone, mental manipulation, memory manipulation, trapping someone's consciousness in a dead body (temporarily, at this power level), inducing necrosis around nerves...

Eliese is very appreciative of these creative uses. Her own magic is generally more... direct.
