"Yeah! In a surprise subject. And then we can call him doctor, and I can buy him a stethoscope, and he can give me some kind of 'Cara why' look about it..." she has a slightly dreamy expression on her face. 

“He is definitely not going to be a medical doctor and he will definitely give you a why look if you give him a stethoscope.”

She wiggles happily. "Perfect! I can't wait." 

“Well, you’re going to have to, it takes years.”

She giggles. "Maybe my power will let me jump forward in time! Then I could do it right away." 

"Cara, do not skip the next five years so you can give my brother a stethoscope sooner."

"--Wait, shit, that was phrased as an order."

giggly Cara. "I think that was a safe one!" She salutes. "I wouldn't want to miss 5 years, that'd be terrible, so much would happen and I'd miss it!!" 

"But it was phrased as an order and I didn't notice that before I said it."

She squeezes Lucy. "It's a hard kind of thing to adjust to, I think? Honestly, noticing quickly so you can say 'wait, nevermind' is probably going to catch most problems."

Given how objectively terrifying her backlash is it's kind of absurd that she's in a situation where one of her biggest gripes about it is how careful her new friends have to be about it, but that sure is where she's at right now. 

“Hopefully! With luck we won’t have to test if that holds at higher backlash.”

"Yeah. Though - after this week, I hope to spend very little time at higher backlash levels, unless it's necessary for a dungeon and there's" Haru or you, ideally "someone I trust available to give me orders and then get me to guiding? Since the way I won't seek it out on my own is, uh, concerning."

“It sure is. And, of course, I’ll cling relentlessly to guiding once it happens, but…bleh. It’s called hellweek for a reason.”

Squeeze. "Yeah. And - we're really lucky, to get this instead of..." she trails off, not really wanting to finish the sentence.

“Horrible torture? Something that actively and consistently interferes with guiding? Something that would have straight-up killed us without prompt medical attention?”

Getting piloted by her backlash into any number of terrifying scenarios... "Yeah. Any of those."

 She shudders. 

Pet pet pet.

 "It would have been worth it anyways, I think, but - I'm really glad we get to have this instead." Nuzzle.

“Yeah, for sure! Like, even if I got a terrible power I never wanted to use, I will never get snatched by a dungeon again.”

"Yeah. And - I don't have to dye my hair or take HRT anymore and we get esper snuggles..." 

She nuzzles Lucy happily, marvelling in how nice it feels.

Lucy lightly bonks her face against Cara's face. "I think esper snuggles are less good than this if you don't have any backlash to get rid of."

Happy Cara wiggles.

 "Sure, but - it could be a lot less good than this and still be very nice! It's... Snuggles Plus. Snuggles, the Sequel."

"Hmmmm. More of a POV sequel than a sequel proper. I'm not done snuggling regular people."

She nods in agreement. "Yeah, it's not like I've been ruined on regular snuggles. This is magically very nice, but it's not, like, addictive or anything."

...She wonders if she'll sleep around non-espers. She could see it going either way, really.

"Even if this ended up making regular snuggles much less satisfying I'd still do it, it wouldn't be fair to my brother if he never got to snuggle me again because I'm an esper."
