Julien moves off of it if Haru tries to take it, sure.

Pants. (Phone, from where it dropped onto the floor.) Hup.

The thing is that Julien is actually so fucking sleepy, but he can stay half-vertical enough to be awake when Haru comes back.

The bathrobe is gray terrycloth.

He shrugs it on and goes to the bathroom.  He can handle the mirror fine like this, apparently, although his eyes are REALLY WEIRD now.  ...Actually he's thirsty; he cups his hands under the faucet, sips, and then discovers he's really thirsty and goes through a bunch of handfuls.

But then it's right back for more cuddles.

Okay but Haru's pants are staying on.

Haru seems really bummed out so Julien is not gonna push it.

"What did you mean, 'difference of opinion'?"

"Uh, I think that we are experiencing base layer reality and that it merely happens that, in base layer reality, you are experiencing an awakening with delusion symptoms."

"Ohh."

"I can see why that would make things confusing for you."

"I am not, at least subjectively, feeling confused."

"Sure.  ...I reeeeally don't know what it's okay to say or not.  I haven't gotten - smote - yet, even though I said some pretty meta things at the church.  But I don't know if there are different considerations between two people like us."

"Well, since I think we're in base level reality and also am an atheist I think you can say whatever but I would not blame you for failing to find this sufficient permission."

"...Yeah, no."  Hug-snuggle (huggle).

Yup.

"I didn't really sleep last night.  Much."

"You should probably expect to take some time off past the end of awakening to recover, I certainly did after mine."

The thing is that Haru would have been - and explicitly had his mind on how he would have been - so, so easy to rape. If his dad had been out getting groceries for their week in, and his mom had been kidnapped by a dungeon right then, and Haru had gone stumbling out into the world trying to find someone to help him before he killed himself, he would have settled for any specimen of humanity, wouldn't have had to be an esper. And all they’d have to do would be evince any sexual interest in him, or even in guys in general, and then allow an implication to land that this had anything to do with why they insisted on getting five minutes of privacy. He’d have been falling all over himself to offer, to make that unnecessary, to not be the only person in the universe crushed under the misery of it until he found something sharp. He would have meant every word and it would still not have been sex that he wanted, or sex that he had time to come to terms with in advance in his own fashion, or sex that he would not regard as a violation afterwards, even if he wound up deciding the violation didn’t exactly have a perpetrator. In some wacky galaxy-brained sense Julien has the opposite of what Haru has, and other details differ too, but things can - integer overflow, or convergently evolve, or whatever - Sparkler and Arctic both going around in tinted eye protection, him because everything's too bright and her because anything might be too beautiful - and the oppositeness did not protect either of them, because somehow they have converged on the symptom "belief that no one is real". Of all things.

"I'm pretty sleepy but I can try and stay awake if you think it would help you somehow."

"I’m zeroed, it’s fine if you want to nap."

"Okay.  I'm sorry you're having some sort of problem."

"Thanks."

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Every once in a while, Julien wakes up a little bit, enough to open his eyes for a second or squeeze Haru to make sure he's still there or sigh to himself.

Eventually, his backlash ticks high enough for him to start having nightmares again.  By the sound of it.

Haru has his phone again but would all things considered rather be in full control of his faculties.

He does not actually want to go to Indonesia and if he does he'd rather it be in disgrace rather than some kind of incompetently administered parole arrangement which would make it hard to visit his parents. A paper trail could be subpoenaed. He doesn't text Charlie. He texts Cricket that he's going to have a lot to hug a cat about once Julien's all awake but isn't sure he'll be at liberty to say the details. Messages six of Cricket's fans about how at the moment if Haru dies "or something" his mother will take care of him but this is not ideal because she has an attitude of mere amused cordiality and Cricket doesn't like her that much, how would they feel about figuring out if they could be a backup buffer human just in case. Looks up legal precedents.
