"You never know. Creation's not so big for the likes of us."

"We'll see."

Then it's time to part ways. Luc' sets off.

Jubilee stays longer than she does, checking on the graveyard again and helping the villagers repair damaged graves and make apologies to the disturbed ghosts. She stays the night, nearby the graveyard, but nothing stirs, and she leaves the morning after

And Luc' circles back around to blight the graveyard in the dead of night after Jubilee has gone. Grass withers and dies, and the headstones begin to sink into the sand under their own weight. See what they make of that, after their oh-so-friendly Solar supposedly cured the area of malefaction.

She leaves as silently as she came, not waiting to hear the results in person. She also composes a letter to Wyld, to be sent at the first opportunity, relating the encounter with Jubilee. She mentions the ways they seem to agree on some basic principles, but doesn't neglect the possible points of contention, as well as the casual way the Solar has of converting people to her worship.

(The village sends out a young boy, fleet of foot, to track down their savior, let her know something went horribly wrong, and now they're afraid of more ghosts... The dissension about whether that was smart is mostly a quiet murmur.)

(Jubilee returns. Of course she does. She fixes it. Of course she does. She moves every single grave, when the blight won't yield. She examines the evidence as smoothly as she can, putting all her knowledge of the occult to the test. She warns the villagers they have an enemy - one she suspects has already left. One she'll track down for them.)

(And then she sets off East, straight for rumors of a building warlord-spirit in the Hundred Kingdoms. It'll be some time yet before she arrives.)

Wyld's letter back to Luc' doesn't contain anything significant to her military strategy or positions - she's being more cautious, of late, that her messengers may be intercepted.

Still - she appreciates Luc's gossip, and is confident she can handle the solar if she's a problem, and is interested in meeting more solars, besides.

Also, some of Luc's agents were found to be Yozi worshipers, and are suspected to have committed other, more serious crimes in the course of that. Wyld has them imprisoned, right now, pending trial. Does Luc' have any feedback about their character, or what fate they should face? (She gives their names; all low ranking followers.)

They should face justice as Wyld sees fit, of course. For what it's worth, she has no specific complaints about the service any has rendered her, though they have not distinguished themselves either. If she can persuade them to recant, that would be all to the good. A shame to lose their capabilities.

Perhaps she should return to make a more thorough check of her network. Demon cultists are rarely alone, after all. And she wouldn't Wyld to forget her in the distraction of a shiny new Exalted...

The return letter takes longer than usual.

I could never forget you, darling.

You don't need to trouble yourself, though, especially to come out this far. My people can handle the checks just fine.

Though it would gladden my heart to see you. Perhaps I can come out part of the way to meet you? I move far more swiftly than your little feet, after all.

That would be most agreeable to Luc'. She provides a location where she may be found.

Wyld meets her there a week later - nearly two months after Luc's encounter with Jubilee - having soared across the distance as a war hawk, and turned into a smaller bird only when she got closer to needing to land.

Luc' has procured a cottage, and waits for her there.

"Hey Luc'!" Wyld calls, bounding up. "Miss me?"

She grins.

"I am not sure. Perhaps you will need to remind me why I should have."

Perhaps... A light kiss on her cheek?

She falls backwards in a dramatic slump. "Such passion! I am overwhelmed."

She catches Luc' around the waist, and gives her a firmer kiss. "Quite a good look on you."

Kiss.

She twists and picks her legs off the floor to wrap them around Wyld.

It is entirely possible they won't make it inside the cottage for a while yet.

(Wyld pushes Luc' up against the cottage's wall.)

It's good she had the foresight to make it a secluded cottage.

"Not even going to take me inside? Are your arms too tired already?"

"Oh, that's for the second round. Unless you'll get exhausted, darling?" She's still supporting Luc's weight, after all, pressing her firmly into the wall as she kisses her neck.

"Mmm. Not so long as I have you to do all the work for me."

"We'll see about that." Kisses!

And wiggles.

And some quite thorough distraction for quite a while.

Later, after they've actually gravitated inside and mostly exhausted themselves, Wyld flops over Luc', nuzzling her neck. "So, what've you been up to?"
