She follows, keeping an eye out for danger, worried about Bastila and trying not to burden - her friend? - with that.

Once in the speeder, programming the destination with the droid, Bastila tries to close her eyes and meditate, but even have Ri out of sight has her strangely panicked, even though she can feel her.

So she reaches out, almost subconsciously, to touch one finger to her hand, finding the contact settles her enough to help her to calm.

That makes her - happy.

She closes her eyes, too, drifting out into the Force alongside Bastila.

The calm that flows between them is more complete than anything Bastila had ever found on her own.

To have found it in such a strange place is...well. She is the Force's servant. She goes where it wills.

The droid driver, thankfully, does not care that their passengers are incredibly still and quiet.

Her mood's significantly improved by the time they arrive.

The slum is obviously nothing pretty, but Bastila can easily find a place for them to slip into unseen, once they arrive. There's a small space in between two shipping containers, still protected from the weather.

"We'll have to make do for now. Until my master arrives."

She nods. "How long will it be?"

"I'm not sure, but not too long. He said he'd be on the first ship out here."

Bastila settles with her back against on of the containers.

She settles in as well. "So we wait here until then."

She feels horribly guilty all of a sudden. What a strange few days Ri has had. And it's not like Bastila has been the most understanding.

"Yes. I'm sorry, by the way. This is not what I intended."

She curls in on herself a bit. "What did you intend?"

She huffs a self-deprecating laugh. "Oh, I'm supposed to be the saviour of the Republic, what with my rare Force abilities and my natural inclination to lead. Instead I'm...floundering. I feel like a youngling again."

"Being a savior seems like it's not something anyone knows for sure how to do."

"That's...true enough."

She laughs a little. "If you were one of the Masters on Dantooine, you would've told me that I should trust in the Force, that what it wills is for me to succeed."

"...Isn't the Force everything and everyone? Why would your side be the only one helped?"

"To keep the balance, of course. There are too many Sith, too many Dark Jedi. Hence the war."

"Can't the Sith and the Dark Jedi use the Force, too? Does the Force help them succeed?"

"The Dark Side twists the Force against itself, they use it to fulfill their goals, but not by the Force's will. They don't listen, only use."

This is recited, like something she read in a book.

"But - they are the Force, same as us."

"Well...yes. The Force runs through all things, but it's how you...use it, I suppose."

"And using the Force isn't helping the Sith succeed, then?"

"...that's...well, it is, but not through the Force's will..." Bastila doesn't remember enough of her youngling studies to make any kind of convincing argument.

She usually can just get by with 'listening to the Force is better'.

"Does the Force always guide you to success?"

"...not always. But it always guides me to where I am supposed to be. When I'm not too proud to listen."
