"I guess I'm more okay with it than with you torturing yourself to stop me from acting on a disagreement about it."

"I'm really really sorry."

And then he's going to hurriedly say everything he knows about the breakthroughs that led to augments.

She nods along.

It doesn't take that long.

"Sorry, um - do you have any questions?"

"...not really, no, it's not like I'm allowed to use the information anyway so it's pretty useless. So would the math thing, though I guess you might as well give it to me now so I can study the physics math with that in mind. If I even actually need to, I'm not sure any trackers have had a secret which is math before."

The universal translator doesn't actually let him write in her language, but he can dictate the equations to her aloud.

"- oh huh. That worked."

"- oh, good."

Oh she's really pretty. Which is obvious ask the time but she's smiling right now so it's extra obvious. 

"Yeah. It's really nice to no longer be tortured."

"I bet. You have my phone number if anything else comes up, right?"

"Oh. Yeah, I do."

"What's next for you?"

"Uh, I'm probably going to try to convince some biologists I'm from a different world and then dump all my future medical knowledge on them, I think. Unless there's something else you'd prefer more."

"No, that sounds good. Do you have biologists in mind or are you just going to like, ask around at the bio building?"

"I was going to look for relevant articles or books in the library and then try to find the authors but asking around at the bio building sounds like a better plan than that."

"I can show you the way if you want."

"I'd like that."

So she gathers her things and puts her coat on and shows him out. She walks very deliberately on the sidewalk even where it doesn't look too icy, and in a few places stomps through the snow to one side of the path instead.

He's not sure why she's doing that but it's very good.

The bio building isn't far away, so she doesn't bother unlocking her tricycle. "There it is," she says, when they've reached it. "Good luck with convincing people and, like, eradicating diseases or whatever it is you know how to do."

"I'm hoping the synthetic antiviruses in my blood are reverse enginerable - they can be used to prevent most infectious diseases... Also I have the reward money for you, though I'm planning on keeping 1% to cover living expenses for myself for the next while." He has a check with the rest already filled out.

"What if you need startup funding for the medical stuff? I'm fine. I have a scholarship and stuff."

"I could give you the money and then you can invest it in the start-up?"

"I don't know how to invest in startups. That just seems like unnecessary extra steps. I promise I will call you if I have an expensive medical problem or my house burns down or something, okay?"

"Okay."

"...I mean, I'll need your number to do that, but presumably you'll get one eventually and you can call to tell me it."
