It is about halfway through the third hour of the fifteenth day of Lucette's attempt to reorganize her grandfather's library. The project is moving at an acceptable pace overall, though she's starting to question the wisdom of having scheduled the whole thing down to the hour during day three (hour four).
"Excessive power use, though typically doing so is avoided for both duty and health reasons."
"Duty, because such powers are necessary for fighting off wild demons and safely giving birth, and health because empowered are immune to disease and injury."
...Lucette will just have to trust Annie's ability to make reasonable decisions about what to share and what not to.
"I suppose your abilities may make the health benefits somewhat less important, though I'm unclear on to what degree."
"Most of my doing so will likely be before it is plausible for my powers to give out regardless."
"... would you like-" actually now that Lucette has seen Annie's feelings for her she doesn't really need to ask before hugging.
"-I am not entirely certain what about the situation is bothering you, but we can change the subject regardless, if you prefer?"
"I don't like that you have to get married to some guy and don't like that when you do he will presumably get you pregnant with all that entails. But me not liking it doesn't change anything."
"It's not at all my preferred state of the world but being an empowered does improve it tremendously. I was expecting to be married off to someone of my grandfather's choosing and to suffer great risks in childbirth. Instead, I will be largely free to find my own match, so long as I do so in a reasonable amount of time, and childbirth will be easy and safe."
Hugs.
"Are there...sorts of attributes my future husband could have that might make it easier?"
