It is a time of turmoil in the Galactic Republic. The taxation of trade routes to outlying systems is under dispute.
The powerful Trade Federation uses their private armies to enforce their extortionate tariffs, placing systems that do not submit under military blockade. Deep in the Core, the Senate endlessly debates the legality of such measures, though this is cold comfort to the suffering people of the Outer Rim.
In secret, the Supreme Chancellor dispatches teams of Jedi Knights, guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, to troubled areas in order to settle the matter directly. In many of these places, this is the first time a Jedi has been seen in generations. Following their negotiations, some choose to remain on assignment for a time, dealing with other problems that have come to their attention...
"And impatient as well, if she is already planning to return. Surely a task force has not been put together yet?"
"Not yet," says Kit Fisto, a Nautolan councilor. "But it's hard to blame her, with her people under hostile control."
Anakin shivers, several echoes of her visions humming at the back of her mind, and tries to resist the urge to hug herself.
"I see. When do we leave?"
"In the morning. We will meet the queen and her entourage at the spaceport."
"We will be there."
Anakin leaves with her teacher.
"I wanna know - more about Naboo. And what's going on."
"Would you care to join Anakin and I for dinner, Qui-Gon?"
"Obi-Wan and I would be delighted," he replies.
"Wonderful. Allow us some time to get cleaned up from our journey, and we shall meet you at the cafeteria."
"We will be there."
"I don't mind more travel. The galaxy's interesting. But I - really don't like the sound of someone - presenting themselves as Sith."
"Yes. But it is important we ascertain the truth of his identity, whether our suspicions are true or not."
"Yeah. He might be someone just - trying to make a political point or draw our attention or something."
"Yeah. For - a lot."
She frowns. "I usually know about danger, and how to avoid or counter it, when I'm being floaty and listening to the Force, but I've never tried that with another Force user involved..."
"That should stand you in good stead, as long as you remember your saber training. Still, if it comes to that, I would prefer you run, if possible, and let Qui-Gon or myself face him."
She nods, seriously. "I might be able to notice anyone coming before an actual fight, though... And what about the Queen, or if he has people with him?"
"If we need to split up, you and Obi-Wan will stay with the Queen, and Qui-Gon and I will face the Sith. But we'll go over plans for those scenarios with them."
