"Do you think you could sleep?"

"Maybe, but it's still pretty early and it doesn't quite feel like that sort of tired?"

"Okay. What do you think would be - suitably restful, then?"

"Is it unhelpful if what I want is for you to want me to do something I'm capable of doing?"

"...I'm not sure. What are you capable of doing right now?"

"I can write, organize things if I don't have to get up to do so, talk, and probably do other things with my hands and face without difficulty."

"Okay. I'm going to find the after-dungeon survey for you to fill out and you're going to do that. It might not be the version they'll email you later, but I'll dig up one from a previous version of the dungeon and you can copy over most of the answers for any questions that match."

"Yes ma'am."

Mostly of his responses are going to be that he doesn't recall, but it's still satisfying to have a complete survey a half hour later.

By then she's found him more dungeon victim surveys that aren't specific to the particular dungeon that he can contribute Data to. What was he doing when he was taken, if he compares to these similarly-ranked-in-severity dungeons does it seem like the one he actually got would have been the worst of the bunch, does he have any feedback on the rescue process for people writing course material for espers and unpowered dungeoneers learning to be good rescuers, etcetera.

He was configuring his laptop using notes by his alternate universe self, he thinks his would have been worse but it's hard to be sure and might depend on how one judges harm that he can't remember and how long the trauma lasts, a sentence or two of context would have helped when he was recovered - he had to get confirmation from his telepathic dom that he was even out of the dungeon

"-should I not be referring to you as my dom in my responses?"

"It'll probably confuse them, I think the local generic is just 'girlfriend'."

"Yes ma'am." Though it's really such a weird way to refer to his dom.

"Yeah, I don't love it either but they have made an approximately deliberate linguistic choice to make it difficult to communicate the thing that's important in our culture."

"The thing where they replace it with mentioning gender is what's really standing out to me, I think."

"Yeah. The neutral options are things like 'partner' which seems confusing on the surveys about dungeons when espers are salient, not all esper partners are romantic partners."

"It also doesn't really sound like a term I'd hear used to describe most relationships at all."

"It gets used in Eclipse some - I'm calling it Eclipse - but it's so clinical, it's just that for actual clinical purposes you do have to be neutral, you might be taking a medical history from a switch or somebody really kinky."

Or his parents.

"Yeah, I guess I don't actually have a better term in mind that covers all those cases."

"Yeah. Anyway, I don't mind being your girlfriend on these forms."

Well, then he will correct his previous answer and move on to complete the rest of the forms.

She pets him and orders room service.

He leans into the petting so much.

"My lovely one. You keep getting hurt, you've got to cut that out."

He gives her a complicated look about this!

"What're you making that face for?"
