Plane shift can drop you up to five hundred miles from your intended destination.
This time they land in some woods, at sunset, near a remarkably flat and smooth path that looks like a lava flow or something.
She offers Fazil a picture. "You said a picture might help with the scry?"
Nod. "Do you need anything else for it? You can use the dining room for it."
"Sounds good. Uh - Faith and Dennis'll be over later, I guess maybe while Mahdi's working I should try to get a list of your spells? Unless - have you guys eaten?"
Then she can get a notebook and start taking notes on Fazil's spell list. Also note that she's sorry she doesn't have anything for Hagan to do right now, hopefully he isn't super bored.
He says to Fazil, who passes this along, that he is not bored at all and understands that the magic-users are much more exciting.
He has magic too and is pretending he doesn't. Lot less of it, though.
Huh. Ranger, then? Or doing a multiclass thing - oh, sorry, this doesn't mean anything to you, does it -
"What class is he? I guess I don't know if you actually explicitly differentiate between all of the classes, uh, what does he do when you're adventuring?"
"If I say 'is he a ranger' is that, like, a question you can even interpret - "
" - yes. He is. People don't always categorize in those terms but if they did I'd know what they were talking about."
"This is so weird," she says to herself, though she sounds delighted about it. "Do you guys have the same races back home, are there, like, elves and dwarves and halflings - "
"Are there not, here? There are lots of intelligence races but elves and dwarves and halflings are among them."
"None here as far as I know. Humans and lots of different kinds of planar aliens that pretend to be humans, mostly."
"Elves are aliens. Not planer aliens just the kind from another planet. It's possible that dwarves and halflings are also, more distantly aliens, I'm not sure how I'd know."
"Weeeird. I don't remember that but I'm not actually like a lore expert or anything. - anyway, spells."
"Yes. Every morning I decide which ones to prepare, do you want the ones I actually prepare or all the ones I could, in principle?"
"All the ones you could, but we can start with the ones you actually do, that's presumably easier?"
"Some spells don't require much and can be cast at will. For those I prepare Guidance, Detect Magic, Stabilize, and Virtue when we're out exploring - do those mean anything to you or do I need to explain -"
"I know what detect magic is. I kind of assume any spells I do know have been gamified, though, it'd be good to get their actual scope and limitations where you come from - "
