Well, the amount Julien currently wants is enough to zero out.  And then he goes back over to wave for Cricket's attention.

"Alright with you if I try that again from various distances?"

"Yes, all right."

"Thanks."  A cool thing about not awakening anymore is that he can simply not be constantly touching Haru or having it be very extremely notable that he's not touching Haru.  So he can simply walk to a spot of his choosing to try again.  How about back around the corner.

He appreciates the actor who plays Cutty's performance. He is portraying a man who did some murder and then got out and decided to teach children to beat each other up but the acting is good. It's going to be tedious if Julien wants to do this like fifty more times, not because there's anything wrong with the mindreading but because it will involve being asked fifty separate times and he can't even be like "whatever, skip that step" because it would consternate Haru who is very good and has an admirable yet unrelateable tolerance for doing tedious things if they are objectively correct. Poor Haru who now has a mindreading partner to do tedious objectively correct things with. Cricket isn't sure if that's better or worse than June. When this episode is over, pigeon time. Kima Greggs looks like she would be good at petting cats and also like she would have asymmetrical kidneys if he encountered her in a 4D dungeon. He's not sure exactly what makes people look like they'd have asymmetrical kidneys but he's pretty sure he's better than chance.

"Woah," Julien says quietly to himself.

"Hm?"

"Uh, I think if I spend a lot of time reading Cricket, I could maybe intuitively understand 4-D?  It was - it looked really cool.  Really weird."

"- oh, cool, he's in very high demand for the dungeons, so few people can be useful in them."

"I might be able to understand dungeons - I think, maybe - this makes me hopeful."

"- you think you could read a dungeon itself?"

"I would sure like to try!"

"I'm sure you realize that would be absolutely huge but holy shit that would be absolutely huge."

"Do you think this is a like 'make out about it' huge or a different kind.  Than that."

"It can be a make out about it kind if you want, I don't require much provocation."

"I might ask you a lot of questions like that - from the other side, too - until I get a better handle on shapes of wondering what you're thinking.  But hopefully I might in a practical sense care less about this with other people and have an easier time with them."

"What do you mean from the other side?"

"Like, if I think you might want to stop?"

"Ah. If the power use is triggered by wanting to know what I'm thinking, yeah, makes sense to compensate verbally."

"That's what I'm thinking."  Cheekpeck.  "Let's go further out."  Like how about to the other side of the front door.  What's on Cricket's mind.

Coming up on the end of the episode. He's got a bad feeling about Michael. Pigeon time. He follows them to the door. "I am going to go catch a pigeon. I don't care if you watch," he announces to Julien, and then he takes off into the air FLYING FLYING WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE come out wherever you are delicious pigeons glinting iridescent in the sun like Haru's hair only lighter-colored.

Julien will tag along until Cricket passes out of his range.  ...Or gets a pigeon?  Yeah, seems like probably self-harm to stick around for that.

...Also he'll try closing his eyes and wondering where Cricket is.  He feels the backlash rate go up, which is weird because it doesn't give him any information - until - yes, there he is, coming back towards them - and then it stops and Julien has no idea where he is again, except in the sense that he can kind of try to combine that with the way Cricket's thinking about moving - but no, maybe he'll get better at interpreting that but for now it's not something he can pick apart into knowledge.

Huh, can he try and do the location one without thoughts - yes he thinks so, except that it still keeps cutting in and out.  He gives up, for now.
