"Oh, well. Do you have any guesses as to why I might be suggesting that you have been?"

"Because I'm apparently going to be an esper and that sometimes happens to espers?"

"When an esper awakens they get a very large amount of their backlash for a week, which is what you feel draining away from you through contact with me, but that's not really the main reason I think you've been thinking differently than normal."

"- I'm not giving it to you, right, it's just gone? I wouldn't want to give you more backlash..."

"You're getting rid of my backlash too, actually."

"Oh okay, that's good."

"Mhm. Do you have another guess as to why I might think you're thinking differently than normal?"

"Is it because I gave away all my money and that implies I just had some lying around before to give away?"

"Well, I didn't know that but it is certainly an example of the sort of behavior that causes me to think you are currently thinking differently than you normally do. Can you - figure out the ways your decision making is different such that you decided to give all of your money away now and didn't before?"

"I don't see how that would help anything."

"Well, I'm hoping it will help you notice when you're making decisions you might on reflection not think were a good idea later."

"...I hear that this matters to you and I want to help but I'm really confused about how it will benefit you so I'm not sure I can execute on the request usefully."

Well that sure is a backlash right there.

"Uh, I care about you achieving your goals? And also want this next to week to go as smoothly as possibly which I think will be easiest if you have some amount of insight into what's going on."

"Oh that's very sweet of you but I'm fine! But if anything un-smooth happens this week I'll help you with it."

"I think you are not fine and am worried that you don't realize this."

"...I'm sorry, I don't know how to solve that problem but I'll think about it!"

"If I was convinced that you could tell what decisions you were making were a result of the backlash that would help. You were able to identify the money one - can you guess at any others?"

"....we're trying to figure out what's special about today in particular, right? I donated blood twice."

"I heard that one - do you know why you don't do that normally?"

"...I think I had several reasons actually, huh."

"Want to go over them?"

"It's sort of fuzzy now. I didn't even donate blood once a day before!"

"Mhm. And you think you had several reasons for that?"

"Yes, like that it wasn't allowed, but it's only not allowed because it might be risky for me, it doesn't mean the blood's not perfectly good for whoever needs it."
