"If you brought him here he would be able to access everything that Milliways has access to. He would attempt to use all of that to bolster his control of his empire and gain the power he needs to crush the only peoples that can still stand against him."

"We are not bringing any demons with the power to possess people to Milliways. We could maybe drop a two-way radio on him or something."

"He would probably order the children home, then."

"I don't think we're going to let an undead demon continue to run around conquering the world on behalf of eleventh century Scandinavia and I don't want to return any children to the crossfire there but I'm pretty in favor of letting them talk to him."

"They might be sped up right now, relative to him. It's kind of unclear."

"You don't know that we are. And we want to talk to him."

"Cecelia? I feel like not letting them talk to their dad, even with supervision, is - a lot more questionable than not wanting them to be raised by him."

....very reluctant nod.

"Okay. We figure out how to drop a radio on Dad. Anything else we can do?"

"We don't want to decide other things until we've talked to him."

Sigh. "Okay. - what does it mean if they're fast?"

"The door opens into our court. If they're fast they can't talk with him. If you - teleported them into the world somewhere other than our court maybe they'd be slow, since they're not entangled with us? I'm not sure."

"We could teleport them to somewhere near your court but not in it, tagged so we can bring them back in fifteen minutes, teleport a radio to Dad, go from there?"

Sigrun and Tyr think this is satisfactory.

She looks pretty miserable but doesn't object.

This takes some setting up but eventually they can engineer it. 

The emperor of Scandinavia wakes up in the middle of the night to a bizarre box bleeping at him. "Hold the red button to speak," it informs him.

Then, on the other end, he hands the radio to the kids.

The kids explain what's happened. They are not very charitable about it, especially when discussing their mother. They can go home or stay here, depending on where he wants them. They are at this point not sure where he wants them.

He thanks them for getting him. He wants them home. And he wants Vigdis in the other place, if whatever magic realm they've stumbled into will allow her to go.

He tells them that he loves them. They tell him the same thing.

They tell Alex that they want to go home, and that their sister Vigdis would like to come here.

"Well, we can get Vigdis."

"We can do that first," says Sigrun.

Sigh. "Anyone know where Vigdis is?"

"Akershus. I can give Cassie a list of likely locations like last time?"

"Sounds good."

Then Cassie can head over and tag a sleeping eleven-year-old, and they can teleport her here.

And shortly they have an awake eleven-year-old.

"What the fuck??"

"Father wanted you here," says Sigrun.
