But while the link and companions are permanent, each creator can only ever do it once. The companions are not necessarily friendly or - ironically - good company, but they can be made that way. Or anyway their creator pleases."

"Correct. The creator can pick how they look within the species' limits as well, create them at any age, though young adult is nearly universal, followed by baby. And of course they can pick their powers. Two powers if it's one companion. One powers if it's two companions."

"Why pick two? Two companions that is."

"You can have repeats of the same power and some strategies can benefit from having two bodies and instead of one."

"I see."

"Of course this includes creating two opposite sex companions for breeding purposes. The parents of the family being loyal to you."
