I recently saw a Certain Book for sale in the Illumis Street Bookshop, by the title of A Guide to the Cities of Avistan. Foolishly believing it to be a Useful Guide to the cities of Cheliax and her neighbors, and seeing that it was available for quite a good price, I purchased it and began to peruse it.
Yet in truth this proved to be a Wicked and Hellish book. For the book is illustrated with many Woodcuts depicting the Cities of Avistan, in addition of course to the information which it provides. For certain cities of great Importance, these woodcuts depict the City in Truth as they Stand, but for the cities of Lesser Importance there is a Single Woodcut which is used Dozens of Times for Various Cities. For Example the city of Oppara in Taldor, home to Blessed Iomedae, is depicted in Truth, for Oppara is famous throughout all the world, even in distant Tian Shia. Likewise Great Absalom is depicted in Truth, with its Cathedral of the Starstone. On the other hand, the city of Nerosian in Mendev is depicted with the Same Woodcut as the city of Kanorate in the northern reaches or the city of Eastcrown in Taldor, for such cities are of little significance to anyone.
But among the cities of Cheliax discussed in this book are Unholy Egorian and Blessed Westcrown. Unholy Egorian is depicted with its own woodcut, as it truly stands; Blessed Westcrown is depicted with the Same Woodcut that is used to illustrate many other cities. The book was published scarcely Four Months ago, and the author certainly knew about the Glorious Reconquest of Cheliax, which is described within its pages. Yet they chose through Subtle Imagery to elevate the False Capital of Hell above the True Capital of Cheliax, as if there is any Glory to be seen in Egorian.
All men who wish to Remedy the Deficiencies of their Education ought Avoid this book, which will certainly lead them to Error and Damnation.
