"That's probably true, they say an hour feels like forever when you're a little kid because you just haven't lived through as many of them and that's after you've already been alive for five or six years." 

"Childhood is a weird concept but maybe a good thing?"

"Yep. Kids are very small and they haven't learned how to do things yet so you have to give them space and cut them slack and do their things for them while you teach them and they figure it out." 

He nuzzles Sasha's knee. "Can you give me space and cut me slack because I don't know how to do things yet?"

He adjusts the angle of his hand on Leo's back, scritches behind his ears. "I don't know how well I'm doing at that but I'm trying. — you're way easier than a kid because I can just tell you what's going on and you'll understand it, but also the thing where you can understand very complicated concepts sometimes makes it hard to remember that in fact you are a day and a half old, if you need more slack let me know?" 

"Okay." Scritches are nice. "You are a good master. I am not going to have to try to find a third master, I don't think."

"I'm glad." 

Tail thumps. 

"You should probably explain sex. At some point."

"Yeah, I can do that. Do you want the explanation now or later?" 

"Now is good."

"So, first thing, human cultures put a kind of bizarre amount of emphasis on sex," he begins, and then he explains the tab a into slot b mechanics with a minimum of blushing, which is not to say that there's no blushing. He's a teenage boy. 

"...I am pretty sure I can't get people pregnant or get pregnant," he says when it concludes, "and I know I can't get sick."

"That's useful!" 

"Also I have both."

"Sex seems really boring because I am a dog but probably when I am a human again it will be more interesting."

"Oh, thank God." Leo is small and soft and warm and excellent. 

"What?"

"If sex was interesting right now that would be really awkward!" 

"Because... you are not attracted to dogs? Or because it would make Marlo sad?"

"Because I'm not attracted to dogs and because Marlo gets insecure about me having casual sex and because you are very small and I am comparatively very large." 

"I don't think it would be casual sex? I belong to you."

"Mm — the thing that bothers him is specifically sex with people I don't know very well, and you do belong to me but I've only known you for a day."
