She is sitting in the library, studying. It's her most common pastime, by hours; spending time with her sister is more enjoyable but Jaromira prefers to socialize more broadly and Katarzyna would only get in the way. This is better on net; the two of them share a room, so it isn't as though her sister's time is entirely hogged by the other girls who call this boarding school "home." Or at least "prison." Katarzyna doesn't mind it, though; the school library is excellent, and basic manners and care for the books has endeared her to the librarian to a sufficient degree to lubricate the interlibrary loans process when there's something she wants to read that they don't have.
I haven't actually tried to find out yet and I would if I were actually going to do this, but based on her personality she would almost certainly hate it if the charity was to fund research to cure a really gross disease and would probably object to a charity to help homeless people if it did things that drew attention to the more unpleasant aspects of homelessness instead of just funneling money places. Same for lots of other causes that have unpleasant aspects. Oh! I bet she'd really hate a charity that helped drug addicts instead of just throwing them in jail.
I'll think about it. It'll have to wait until I've figured out de-aging at scale, if I can.
Yeah. It's still a funny thought, her stewing in the background about a charity like a movie villain.
It has the advantage that if there's some kind of horrible misunderstanding and actually she's fine, the charity's existence will not harm her at all!
I really don't think she is but that's still an excellent perk! Putting a direct causal link between people's horribleness and the consequences is always good.
I mean the ideal is flourishing for all, but there is room for some personal pettiness here and there.
Someday we will have a world in which absolutely everyone can flourish and then I'll let go of my pettiness but until then I'll take some satisfaction from it.
I'll probably let go of it before then if somehow we figure out resurrection and I get Mother back.
I don't even know what powers you'd weave together for that one but I hope we find them.
The weirdest power I've ever heard of, I think, was someone who could change the colors of things. If she changed the color of a swarmling it died. They die of being not-black, apparently!
Wow, that's amazing. I'd think it was weird if magic wasn't so looks-oriented, really. Is she a Paladin?
I don't want to, but I probably would if I had a power that was that much of a comparative advantage at that.
Some powers work on swarmlings but not kaiju. Maybe she can only change little things.
Or maybe she had something going on like me. If I get a medical degree and somebody wonders why I'm not fighting kaiju the reason has nothing to do with expecting my power wouldn't work on them, I have no reason to think it couldn't.
