I can find them really easily if they're not magic. If they're magic I can probably find them but not really easily. I can teleport them if they're physical. And if they can't teleport. This probably isn't a great solution but it doesn't need to last very long - oh, I should probably talk with them, I guess, to make sure they're actually trying to end the world and won't just stop that...

"I don't think they really do the talking thing, although I appreciate the thought process, that's very responsible. They're super magical and I have no idea whether they're physical or whether they can teleport. I guess they probably can't, given that I think our previous game plan was stabbing them? Alistair, do you figure an archdemon is the sort of thing you stab?"

"I was definitely hoping for something we could stab? But Aria - "

"Alistair thinks they're stabbable, which usually implies at least a certain degree of physicality."

If they can read or do osanwë that works too.

"Doubtful, but you can certainly check, if you're all right with them trying to kill you while you do."

No one can kill me. - if they could possess me it would be very bad, so I should know more about that probably.

"Sounds like it would be. Never heard of a demon possessing another demon, but I used to think they only went for mages, and it turns out they can go for cats, so I'm betting anything with a body is theoretically on the menu. They teach mage kids how not to get possessed, and the rest of us just try to avoid their notice, mostly. You seem... noticeable."

Yes. What do they teach mage kids?

"Gotta ask a mage for that." She frowns at Draconis. He frowns back at her. "You know I'm actually gonna take a minute to discuss all this with my friends, is that OK?"

...well, it's okay with me. I don't think I have enough information to decide if it's okay generally.

"OK," she says, laughing a little.

She stops walking and turns back to her friends, perfectly cheerful and a beacon of confidence. This is very important, because her friends seem to have very little of either confidence or cheer right now. "So. This is Curufinwë Fëanáro. He's some kind of elf demon person. Still figuring out how that works. Point is, he's lost, he's gonna play nice, he wants to help us save the world, possibly by teleporting the archdemon to one of the moons - we are still working out the kinks in this plan - and he's gonna be hanging out with us. Anyone have a problem with that?"

"Yeah, that seems like a bad idea?"

"Is there an 'undecided' option, because I don't know if I have problems now, but as the person most likely to be possessed by demons, I don't really want to give up my right to have a problem with it later?"

"It seems... unwise, Aria."

She waits a second to be sure that no one else has a substantive objection. "OK! Thank you for your objections. They have been noted, even though most of them were very vague and not the sort of things that gave me very much more information. Counterpoint, I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the world is ending, we're critically short on manpower, this kid's apparent weight class is at least twice that of both of our other mages combined, and unlike almost everyone else we've run into - with the exception of, well, everyone currently here - he might actually understand the seriousness of the situation."

"But a demon, Aria. We know what comes of negotiating with them. What would your commander have said of this plan?"

She considers.

She looks at Alistair.

"I know exactly what Duncan would have said. Duncan would have said that strength of character and nobility of spirit are sometimes found in unlikely places, and that if you bother to look, then you'll find them in all sorts of places you didn't expect. And he would have said that a Grey Warden has to be willing to pay any price, take any risk, make any sacrifice if it means stopping the darkspawn, because the alternative is losing everything that there is to lose. He would have been wrong about some of those things, but he would have backed me up on this."

"...can it really fight the archdemon?" asks Alistair, sounding pained.

"Remains unclear. Right now he's concerned about other demons trying to possess him."

"...is that a thing that can happen?"

"I don't know! I didn't go to Templar school! I didn't even know they could possess non-mages until, like, a month ago. But he wants to figure out how to be safe, and I think we're all better off if the teleporting elf kid doesn't turn into an abomination, so - he doesn't speak Fereldan yet, so he can only talk to you if you give him permission to read your mind." Sten snorts. "Otherwise we have to wait until he picks up the language, and I feel like how not to be possessed by demons might be the sort of thing that you don't really want to put at the very end of your training regimen."

"You think he's gonna pick up the language fast enough to actually talk to anyone before this is over?"

"I dunno. Probably. He's very smart. Aren't you, Curufinwë."
