:There's a spell that will let me travel through very cold or hot environments unharmed; that plus creating water and food should make it possible for me to hike to the other continent if I must. Is there someone I should be talking to about getting Iomedae and Her allies permitted?:

:Probably Raye. Law and negotiation and dealing with legislators is her thing. I can ask her what time she's free so she can meet with you — at the limit she'll definitely be available when the assessor comes to collect testimony. Which will be in a few days.:

Also, that is so convenient. I would love to be able to just conjure water and food while traveling. I think lots of True practitioners would too. I'm so greedy*!:

*Sixwaysians use the term 'greedy' when you want something that someone has, but you don't begrudge them having it, in contrast to 'envious'.

:Create Water is very useful, yes, I prepare it almost every day.:

Meanwhile, Kanuwa will contact Raye about her schedule.

Raye is upset that Kanuwa is just contacting him like this and interrupting her but she doesn't show it, because it could be important. What is it?

:Blai wants to meet with you to discuss the legality of worshipping Iomedae because it might fall afoul of foreign diplomacy laws. When can you talk to him about it?:

:Tomorrow noon, at my office.: Also, can you contact her secretary next time please, here's what she looks like.

Yes, he can do that.

Kanuwa will inform Blai! Not about Raye's secretary, just about the time.

:That sounds doable. How many of Share Language do you think I'm likely to want, I could see 'zero' because of your assistance, or one or two.:

:Part of me wants to say 'zero', since again, I'm here, but I'm tempted to say 'one' in case Raye wants to ask about your gods and she has trouble understanding because it has to pass through me and my own understandings and interpretations. I'd rather not have a repeat of the awkward incident earlier. You only have a limited number of workings, er, spells that you can have a day, right? What does preparing one or more Shares of Language trade off against?:

:It's second circle; it would displace - well, at any circle I'm accustomed to preparing a lot of combat spells, but in this less dangerous situation it'd displace things like Owl's Wisdom or Zone of Truth or Lesser Restoration or Lay of the Land. I can displace any freely-chosen prepared spell for a Cure of the same circle if I want to, on the spot.:

:Hm...I think people would be reluctant to accept spells from a person whose workings they don't understand. That the soup kitchen accepted your conjured food is because the poor and hungry are more tolerant of risk. I'm assuming that you would want to spend spells like Lesser Restoration, if I understand the spell and you correctly, on charity if you didn't personally need it and it would be 'wasted'.

I would recommend preparing one Share Language. It's not as important for me to get it, as excited as I might be to suddenly develop fluency in another language.

And yes, it's safe inside the city walls. Or, well, safer. It's possible there might be a large monster attack. The chance of that is rare, though.:

:Most of the spells I can't freely choose are combat-applicable, so I won't be caught completely without options if a monster does get in.:

:That's good. Relatedly, you don't have any obligation to participate in defense if one such occurs, though I don't know whether you'd be obligated to as a follower of the monster fighting god. The government will pay you if you do, though. Similar to how they pay you for helping put out the fire.:

:I'm not specifically obligated to participate by fighting, if it would make more sense to have me evacuating civilians or putting out fires or something, but it'd be the way to bet.:

:I didn't know that! I thought all of you had to be fighters.:

Someone wearing the horizontal pinstripe robes approaches their table and asks Kanuwa something. Kanuwa asks a few questions in return and she answers it.

:She's asking if you're free to answer questions about your healing and medicine. Specifically, the healer at the clinic is curious about your instant wide range healing effect, among other things.:

:Certainly. The basic concept is that everyone within thirty feet of me - it's spherical, you can design a building to pack more people in than you can in an open floor but it's still quite a lot in an open floor - will be healed some amount of their injuries. It's not effective on disease or poison, nor old poorly healed damage, but for acute trauma it's just the thing. The strength of the effect varies quite a bit - I'd compare it to Cure spells but you don't have those - on a normal person who's a normal amount of vulnerable to injury in the first place it will usually restore them to full health, but someone who's tougher to start out like me might require more than one application if sufficiently battered. I get two channels per day.:

Write that down, write that down! She is going to mail this later to the mountain temple so they can make calculations about whether or not they should try to court Blai to working for the Society.

"The main healer would be interested in setting up an appointment to discuss healing lore and how your abilities could be used for the mission of the Society — if you are interested in further working with us, that is."

:I'd be happy to make such an appointment provided it doesn't conflict with the other one I have.:

"What time is good for you to meet?" This is high enough priority that the main healer is willing to push other nonemergent obligations to meet! Though the messenger won't say that. Not right now, at least.

:I can do nearly any other time except for the hour immediately following dawn and also noon until - I'm not actually sure how long the other appointment is likely to run.:
