Deskyl and Daisy meet Slayer Wrath & co.

No. No. No no no no no no no. She's only barely recovered from last time they took her; she can't let them take her again.

If she draws her saber, she'll die. There's no doubt in her mind about that, outnumbered as she is and with her master right there. There's nothing she can do; he knows it, they know it, she knows it. They wouldn't do this any other way.

The flash of inspiration is more like a memory; the floating, disconnected kind that sometimes linger after... whatever it is that they do to her. It's never been quite like this before, but - she reaches into the Force, nudges it just so...

The burst of feedback - fear and rage and terror - overwhelms her; she reels, barely keeping her feet, distantly aware of the shouting, of her droid stepping forward to steady her. She ignores it as best she can, and continues nudging at the Force, carefully, carefully...

And then, suddenly, she's elsewhere.

"I don't think she's going to threaten you, unless there's something important that she doesn't know. But she's very calm, for a Sith, and you've helped us; I think she'll help you."

"We don't need any help." And that's far more defensive than true. Pauses, goes over the sentence. "If I'm not telling her something, I've probably got good reason. But if she asks, I'll try to answer."

She nods.

"Is there anything else you want to know? Or anything that we should know?"

"Ant's probably gonna have a million and one questions for you," he warns, smiling fondly down at Ant. "And there's like, vampires, and demons. Going out after dark here isn't super risky, but it's worth knowing they exist. Did you have any questions?"

"Is magic a secret here?"

"By and large: yes. So are the vampires and demons. Also: we don't have robots. Not like you."

She nods. "It's not secret where we were before; the Sith run the empire there. Not Deskyl, though, Deskyl's an engineer - low rank, but she's very good at it."

"Our technology might be very different from what she's used to."

"Yes, probably. But you have electricity, and she invents things, she'll probably be okay. She needs to recover first, though. She was hurt with magic a few months ago, very badly."

Ira shifts, a little uncomfortable. "Think I'm supposed to stop people being hurt by magic. So, here's probably as good a place as any."

"Thank you. I can help pay for it, if you know of work that I can do."

"Y'know. Given how fast you've picked up English, you could probably make a bit doing online translation."

She pauses for a moment to consider. "I'll need to ask Deskyl before I forget another language; I'm only able to know four at once. But if she allows me to, I can do that."

That gets an eyebrow. "You need her permission." It's flat, and not a question.

"I don't think she would - hurt me, or anything like that, if I did it without permission. But I should ask anyway, yes."

There's that noncommittal hum again. "You said something about needing power?"

"Yes, in the next few days - longer if I don't move around very much. Deskyl will be able to make me a charger once she has parts and tools."

"She gonna be up for that?"

"Yes, she'll be fine. It's hard for her to be awake for very long, but she can do things when she is."

"Let me know what she'll need. I can see what I can get."

"I'll ask when she wakes up, thank you."

He nods. "If you have any more questions, let one of us know."

"I will, thank you."

Ira hums again, acknowledgement more than anything else.

Ant starts to stir against his side, a distressed whimper leaving eir lips, and his eyes leave DZ and Deskyl.

"S'okay," he murmurs, one hand stroking Ant's hair, the other reaching over to poke Shin.

Shin stirs enough to press his lips to Ant's hair, and there's a faint glow, that slides from Ant's head and into Shin.
