"This town suddenly seems like less fun. Probably none of the library books will have information about any of that?"

"No, they won't. The snake, you don't know how it brought you here? You can't get home?"

"No, I don't. Like I said, completely unprecedented."

"I'll try to make your stay as safe and easy as possible. What do you need when we get home?"

"Some time with the books first. Try to get a grip on the language and world. And maybe more information about secret things."

"I'll leave you with the books first. Then, when you feel comfortable with the basics, I'll tell you more about the rest. What do you need to eat?"

"Um, normal food? I don't have any special dietary requirements."

"I thought it was worth checking. Alright, here it is."

The house is a standard size for a suburban home, though Pascale might not be expecting it.

She parks the car outside.

Kind of big. And fancy.

She gets out of the car and waits for Melissa to lead the way inside.

Melissa leads her inside.

"This is the kitchen, where we prepare food. This is the living room, where we sit and relax. This is the bathroom, where we, uh, take care of hygiene and similar needs. If you need toilets explained I can probably do that. Upstairs are the bedrooms."

"I think I can figure it out. It looks like we share most basic concepts, you just have a higher tech level."

Pascale settles in the living room with her books.

"Alright. Scott, our guest is here! I already told him you were here from the library. Using a phone. Have I shown you phones yet?"

She takes her cell phone out.

"You have not! Long-distance communication?"

"Long-distance communication. I press these buttons and I can talk to people who have their own."

She demonstrates the use of the buttons, but not much more.

"We can get you one if your god can't figure out how to get you home."

"Cool!"

Also probably much more useful when she can read. To work on that project!

Melissa proceeds to teach.

Someone pokes his head downstairs.

"Hi. You must be the visitor. I'm Scott, her son."

"Pascale. Nice to meet you."

"How are you doing?"

"Pretty well for having been eaten by a giant snake monster this morning and subsequently dropped into a strange dimension where werewolves apparently exist. How are you?"

"I'm okay. What kind of foods do you like? We might have the same things."

"I mostly eat whatever. Do you have any fruit? Fruit's nice."

"We have fruit. Are there any fruit that are hard to get at home? They might be easier for us."

"My god's usually willing to make me whatever if I ask nicely. Peaches are my favorite."

"We have peaches and oranges right now, we can get others if you want. How did you enjoy the library?"

He heads to the kitchen.
