Nova does his best to eat. (He really doesn't want to worry Zev.)

Zev sees Nova trying, and drops his head onto his shoulder briefly, trying to be encouraging. 

He doesn’t manage to eat much, but what he does eat is wonderful. 

The movie, on the other hand, gets almost a series of scoffs. 

"Hey," 'Chelle pokes his knee playfully. "Don't knock Seuss. It's an accessible platform."

Zev pokes her back, but quiets his scoffing. 

She tilts her head back so she's looking at him, upside down. "But by all means, continue your critique, I do enjoy defending this."

“Good, because I have some thoughts about the Onceler-“

The thoughts are many, and none of them praise. 

She laughs. "Yeah. He's an idiot. That's kinda the point."

Lan is distracted, frowning at his phone. "Dad, is there a reason the Shrimp is texting me with a string of emojis?"

"Oh, Steve's coming over for breakfast tomorrow. I guess he's bringing Ant and Ira with him?"

He wraps his arm back around Nova, hoping he’s not too frightened by how quickly that happened. 

“Who’re Ant and Ira?”

-he has Zev. Zev'll look after him.

"I mentioned them to you. The two kids Steve took in? Ira's just turned eighteen, Ant's just about to turn fifteen."

“Sure.”

He tucks his head close to Nova’s. “I’ll be with you the whole time. You can tell me if you feel uncomfortable.”

"Ant's adorable. Ira's...Ira. Do we have enough chairs?"

"When was the last time you saw Ira use a chair?"

Nova nods against Zev, obviously relieved.

“All of you are going to sit in on this?”

"Just breakfast," Aaren says with a grin. "Chances are Steve's gonna banish me from my kitchen once that's done."

"Uncle Steve's the only person who can get away with that!"

“Truly an unheard of phenomenon.” 

Zev’s grin fades a little, but doesn’t seem less happy. Just softer. “Thank you, again, for this.”

'Chelle grins and reaches over one shoulder to squeeze his knee.

"You're welcome," Aaren says. "Even if I don't think you have anything to thank us for."

Zev disagrees. If Aaren hadn’t taken them in, hadn’t been so patient- it’s a hard train of thought to follow. Especially considering they had been sleeping on the streets with nothing to their name. Hard to imagine that story ending happily. 

“Nevertheless, it is thanks you’re getting. You are a good man. I’m sorry I doubted you.”

"You had no reason to trust me, and every reason to doubt me. I'm glad I could prove that not everyone's awful."

“Definitely not the people in this room.”
