She squints. "I think it's just stunned."

"Shall we head back and make sure the boys haven't burned down my lab?"

"Sounds like a plan. We should change first presuming Tony hasn't learned any manners recently."

Bikinis are replaced with daywear and they reappear in the lab.

He at least has not burned down the lab; he's fiddling with a display from his suit. 

"Oceans are lovely and it's really neat what your world does at the horizon!!!!"

"How is your horizon different? I'm used to Flat Elves being bewildered at spherical planets but you shouldn't have that particular gap."

" - no, I've just never seen it, I didn't know what to expect it to look like."

"I guess I was assuming that even if the forcefield was up your whole life you might have seen memories or through other people's eyes..."

"I had! It doesn't handle really really distant things that take your whole field of vision as well as you'd think, it's just different. The same way a photograph is different, mostly."

"I never really noticed that, but then I don't have Elf-quality vision natively, I'm just wearing invisible magic goggles. Oh, anyone wanna try my invisible magic goggles?"

Everyone would love to try her invisible magic goggles.

She passes them around!

She confirms that something is different about magic Elf vision. 

"This is neat but kinda overwhelming, d'you get used to it?"

"Yes, you do. I need the infrared and ultraviolet in particular to make illusions look realistic to folks who can see those. I decorated a city, mid-war, and everyone was so polite about not mentioning that the buildings all looked oddly uniform in temperature..."

Carol tries on the goggles. Her eyes start glowing with a faint fluorescent-bulb sort of noise and stay that way even after she takes them off.

"Uh, Starburst, you're glowy."

"It's Captain Marvel," says Carol. "Although Starburst is actually pretty good..."

"Thanks, I try. Is the glowing intentional or should we all be fleeing?"

"Oh, neither," she says. "It'll probably go away in a minute."

He shakes his head. "If you say so. Loki, what are those glasses doing, do they compress the normal visual range?"

"No, they're just magic. I assume you'll find that an unsatisfactory explanation but I haven't studied the system, I have my own to fuss with. I'd say to ask Maedhros but he's from the wrong kind to have even the 101."

"As far as I know we haven't got any magic except the Valar. ...is it typical for a world to come in magical and nonmagical variants?"

"No, just Ardas and before you guys we only had one Space Arda on the map. Earths are the other thing that comes up a lot, and those are all differently magical-or-something, often secretly, plus we get them in a weirdly narrow time band."

"I assume smart people have already tried a lot to figure out what the fuck so we shouldn't expect to hit on it?"

"In my experience that's no reason to expect not to hit on it."
