The Vaesteri family was among Milirevi's most important families. For generations, they've put their sorcerous prowess at service of the city and in the name of the Daliath religion. Their contributions were so notorious that they earned multiple awards and titles for it. Including the Dal-kanan-Dal (the blessing that multiples blessings), an honor granted to a single digit of families around the known worlds. The family ran a temple that was large, beautiful, a historical landmark, and a shelter to those in need.
The recipe isn't anything majorly complicated - although it's an earth recipe, chorizo, sweet potato, red onion and spinach with pearl barley, Aaren advises on substitutes for all the ingredients if they don't have ready access to the earth variants. It uses a single roasting tin, which is convenient for a lot of reasons, and everything cooks together.
Ooh, Earth cuisine, how exotic. Most ingredients are not too rare in a city like Milirevi, but it's nice to know the options.
Well, now that they've done all the prep work, they've got time before it'll actually be cooked. Anyone want to learn how to make flapjacks?
Well then! Here's how to do that - butter, syrup, melted together, add oats, and then add dried fruit of your choice! He offers a couple of variations which include adding fresh fruit at different stages of the cooking process.
Felix approves. He picks a variety of fresh fruits to experiment with.
Aaren is delighted! And provides plenty of advice!
Eventually: the flapjack is ready to go in the oven, and what they've made is ready to come out and be tasted.
Aaren tries a little bit from every pair, and declares himself impressed!
"Well then. Will you have me back?" Aaren's tone is light, almost teasing.
"His cooking is the best. Maybe. Aunt Ange's is great as well. Hard to pick a best..."
Inara giggles. "Trying certainly. I do like to share with my friends though."
Inara gives him a coy, and slightly arch smile. "In more than one way."
Feliaris giggles a bit nervously, but gives her his trademarked smile.
Ima, way in the back, whispers to Parafi. "I bet that they are going to get married."
...He's not entirely sure of the exact meaning of that, but he gives a slight grin.
