Livi Barro and the consequences of his own choices

Delegate Barro is not at his registered address, when the city watch goes looking for him. That's not very surprising, because wanted men rarely are, and also because lots of people are temporarily displaced after the riots last night. Whether displaced or on the run he didn't stop by his room first. His stuff's still there - a couple changes of clothes and a purse with a fair amount of coin in it. Arnau and Carlos split the coins but leave the clothes. (They'd have some resale value but he'd have to actually do the work of reselling them.)

They'll try the temples, next. Leaving his money behind suggests displaced, and not on the run, and displaced people are mostly at the temples. They'll try the big one to Abadar first, since it was mentioned in the archmage Naima's city-wide message.

"We're looking for some missing delegates who haven't made it to the palace yet, anyone here a delegate?"

Ugh, he thought being at the temple would be enough for the headcount and he wouldn't have to tromp through the rain. He was personally healed by the archmage Naima and everything. (His eye still hurts, but at least it's back.)

He raises his hand.

"Hey. Name?"

"Livi Barro."

Nice, that was fast. He writes it down anyways because they are in fact supposed to report any delegates they've found who haven't reported in.

"OK Senyor Barro. Everything alright for you? Did you get attacked at home last night, or what?"

"One of the slips from the convention stabbed me in the eye. Came here to get it patched up."

"Aw that's rough. Good thing the archmage Naima is here, huh? Did you get the bastard back at least?"

"Yeah! It definitely won't be picking any fights anytime soon." He laughs. (The implications are clearly not intended to be even slightly subtle.)

"Well that's swell, that's just absolutely swell. Hope it had a long time dying." He smiles, and claps Livi on the shoulder. "You're doing the work that's gotta be done.

...Anyways, the new queen's a slip-lover, so they're gonna chop off your head now, you poor stupid bastard."

"...but it's a slip."

"Yeah I know it's a slip, if it were up to me I'd pin a fucking medal on you! I mean I wouldn't, 'cause it's no big deal and I don't have any medals to pin, but you know what I mean. But the queen loves slips, and orders are we should haul you to the dungeons for knifing one. Sorry, man, it's nothing personal. If I didn't find you I wouldn't get my bonus, and if I let you go now it'd be my neck instead of yours under the final blade." he shrugs. "Look, on account of the public service you did, we're not gonna rough you up unless you really try to run for it, okay? So don't make this any harder than it's gotta be."

"It stabbed me in the eye. I'd kill a human that stabbed me in the eye."

"Look man, you don't gotta convince me. Tell it to the magistrate, if they send you to one."

Ughhhh. Hopefully the magistrate will see reason.

He doesn't try to resist arrest. (If they don't stop him, he'll talk loudly about how he's being hauled away for defending himself against an attack from one of the awful slips at the convention.)

Yeah they're not going to stop him. They don't rough him up even a little bit all the way to the palace.

Then eventually a very annoyed Livi will arrive at the palace, still telling everyone in earshot about how he's being arrested for killing a slip that stabbed him in the eye.

Here Ends This Thread
