continued from [you shall never again go away] and [take these broken wings]

Wizard and magic bird, flying around the city looking for situations. Not as much to do now that the rain has started. Most everyone in need of rescuing has already been rescued or gotten past the point where rescuing would help. Any fires to put out?

There's a tiefling child on top of a tall stone building. What's he doing there? There has to be a better place for a random tiefling child to be during a rainstorm, ideally under a roof instead of on top of one.

"Lady Blackbird. Found something for us to do."

(The magic bird's been Stabilizing people on general principle, actually. It won't get her anything, but it won't lose her anything, either, and if she's flying around in the rain anyway, well. Druids and preserving life and whatnot.)

Hm? Oh. The children on the roof? That's... not really likely to win her any political favors or anything, but, sure, she guesses. If he wants. He has been helpful.

She gives a confirmation chirp, though she's a little confused about what exactly he wants her to do about it. She is a relatively small bird, how can she possibly help get a child down from a roof. This seems like it is mostly a wizard problem. Unless the child is injured?

"I can get him down. You're more familiar with the city than I, any idea where to put him after?"

He would just default to dropping rescued urchins at the nearest good church, but this one is a tiefling and unfortunately he has ever been to Mendev, so he knows better.

“Where to put them. I just saw a few more on there.”

Ohhhhhhhh he wants the kids to live after. Fair enough.

Hmmm. When in doubt, temple of Erastil. They will handle lost children with something resembling reason. She knows where one is, and can lead the wizard accordingly.

Erastil, huh. Might make the kids live on a farm or something, but that’s probably not as bad as a rooftop in the rain.

Lisandro circles the temple of Erastil a couple times, then flies back to the rooftop to get a closer look.

There are four children in total, although Lisandro can be forgiven for noticing the tiefling first; his bright red skin stands out in the rain more than the huddled and pale visages of the other children. Another boy of about the same age as the tiefling leans against him for warmth, while a girl a year or two older marches around the edge of the roof, peering down at the street below, firmly leading a toddler by the hand.

Lisandro thought it was just a kid who climbed up somewhere he couldn't climb down from, at the worst possible time. He's been there himself, way back in the day before extended overland flight. But this is too many and one of them is too small. Huh?

So now he's just hovering confusedly nearby the roof.

The girl notices him first. She halts, staring suspiciously. The tiny boy also turns to look at him, the hand that isn't in his big sister's jammed all the way into his mouth.

...

"Hello. Do you want me to take you all somewhere other than this roof? This magic bird I'm working with suggested the temple over there."

Now all the children are looking at him.

"That's not the bird lady," the boy who was leaning on the tiefling says suspiciously.

"Just because the bird lady killed the guy with the knife doesn't mean she meant us well," the girl shoots back in the stubborn tone of a repeated argument.

Looking to the Lady Blackbird. "You know these four? Save them from a guy with a knife maybe?"

Bird lady? Nope, definitely not her. See how she's only grudgingly offering minimal assistance with saving the monstrous and rowdy little snot makers known as children. Actually, she'd be surprised if humans could even recognize that her form is the female version of the (common) blackbird, even though it's really obvious. (Instead of pitch black she's a more subtle dark brown. Avian females are often much more subtle than the male counterparts.)

Negative chirp, but that does get her investigating, because now she has a sinking suspicion about who the 'bird lady' might be.

... And it's not hard to find, once you're looking. That. Looks like a bird lady, yep. Wrapped around another child who might not even be alive.

Oh, Liushna, you should have just flown away...

It wasn't a good death. Her back is badly battered, the back of her skull cracked open, and her wings are a mess of blood and patchily missing feathers.

But the child is alive.

Well.

She'd probably find that some comfort, then. The child can get a Cure Moderate Wounds, even though it's absolutely overdoing it. She doesn't have any lesser cure spells left, and it wouldn't do, to let any of this be in vain.

Then she trills to the wizard to inform him of this.

Oh. This is the bird person. Lisandro is missing most of the context, except for the quick explanation he got... but every mob everywhere somehow has trouble telling the difference between their enemies and people trying to stop them from hurting children. At least whoever she was protecting is still alive. It's better than nothing.

"You knew her?"

Affirmative, sad chirp.

"Oh. If it's anything, we can finish what she was doing here."

He would also offer to take her body to the temple too but that's always hollow, somehow, coming from someone who can afford raise dead insurance to someone who probably can't.

Affirmative chirp. She then pokes the child held in the corpse's arms. Hey, kiddo, you want to move your ass, or just hang out there hugging a dead woman forever?

The child wriggles slightly on being poked, then peers out from under Liushna's wing, and, finding the street empty of mob, crawls out cautiously.

The bird is careful to hop out of reach of the child while it exits the grasp of the corpse.

Can they dump this, and those kids on the roof, on the chuch now??

Trouble is, you can't just grab a person to carry to somewhere else. Well, maybe birds can, but that's also why people grabbed by birds try to escape. If that happens, Lisandro has to use his one feather fall from the day. So we have to take this a bit slower.

"Hey. I'll take you to the others, then we'll try to get you all somewhere safe. Okay?"

Lysander points up to the other four children on the roof. Yes, he's planning to bring them all back down afterwards so carrying one up is a bit ridiculous, but herding urchins works by the same principles as cats: getting them all in the same place is the first step.

The little girl stares up at him for a moment, then nods, slowly.

If your narration says so.

Voshrelka will stay with Liushna's body. She's going to see about getting her raised tomorrrow. Probably being a delegate gets her special treatment. And if not, well. ... She can do a lot of Plant Growths. Or find a member of her clan that's powerful enough to cast Reincarnate, if there's no other option.

"If this is where we part ways for now, then goodbye and thank you."

He can lift the girl up from here to the roof. Hope the others see that him flying a person somewhere is – at least not immediately dangerous.

The children on the roof are actually really relieved to see the missing last member of their group! They were pretty sure she was dead by now.

"Ah, you do know each other."Lisandro will give them a few moments for reunions.

"So, do you want to get out of here? Up to you where I drop you off, church of Erastil is over there but it's just a suggestion."
