Here is a sea of grass and rolling hills, stretching far as the eye can see. Far to the east and west, past the fields of green and autumn-orange, mountain ranges rise up and past the clouds: cliffs to the heavens, climbing without end.
"A force for consistency and against corruption, not necessarily for moderation. The principles of many gods and their faiths are not necessarily moderate at all. - this is as regards my world, I have extremely poor data on the local type."
"Tamaroth is a god of leaders and rulers, Flos' Steward said. If he takes a liking to the King of Destruction, that offers both upper and lower limits on how unpleasant he can be. Are there gods of these natures, in your world, and how do they comport themselves?"
"I am not aware of a god with that domain in my world. - and I'm not sure it does offer a limit to how unpleasant He can be. Gods of my world can only encleric people of nearby alignments but I do not know local gods to have that limitation, or even to have well-defined alignments at all, and even where the nearby alignment limit applies it doesn't prevent the same neutral god from choosing both Good and Evil clerics if they both fall within the god's general sphere of interest."
"If I accept Flos' offer—to take his alliance in exchange for establishing temples of Tamaroth, to stand and operate for at least forty years—do you anticipate any surprises I may not enjoy?"
She narrows her eyes.
"Do not try my patience. If there is a reason you cannot elaborate, say it."
"There is reason to believe that some related information is dangerous to have more widely known."
"Do you mean that the explanation of the trap may therefore be dangerous, or that the trap is his temples will disseminate that dangerous information, or both?"
"If you cannot describe the mechanism, can you describe the outcomes? Will it harm my people? Allow them to be influenced? Lead Flos to gain more power than I anticipate? Lead Tamaroth to do so?"
"I cannot describe those things, Quarass." Mostly because he doesn't know but it doesn't hurt to have more margin around the infohazard.
"So there is a concealed downside to Flos' proposal, but you cannot tell me what it is, or what it will cause, or why I cannot know it."
"I can't even guarantee that it in fact exists, it just seems to me a risk from my vantage point."
To the Kheltian [Diplomat], she says, "I don't suppose His Undying Majesty Fetohep has changed his position on the offering of military support to Germina."
To Blai, "Do you believe Flos knows of this hidden, potentially nonexistend downside, presuming that it were to exist."
"If forced to bet at even odds I would bet that he does not but I would be very wary of putting weight on this guess."
"Is there anything else you wish to volunteer on the matters of gods, or Tamaroth's temples, or the King of Destruction's plans?"
"I can answer further questions about gods but do not know what subtopics would be worth your time, Quarass, and do not have information on the other matters."
"Do you expect clerics of your world's convention to become commonplace in this world within the next ten years?"
"So far I do not know any god to have chosen more than a couple of clerics here. I do not know why that might be nor what events might transpire to impel myself or other clerics to attempt to increase our numbers or else to deliberately avoid it. Depending on your standards for 'commonplace' it might be all but impossible for my variety of cleric to achieve such a population over that time frame except in limited regions."
