Reconstructing the remnants of high magic from the remaining original texts is good, and not a worthless waste of time on traditions that would barely compete with low magic and the steam engine even if they worked at all. Making blufbeads is kinda a waste of time but pays well. Dying a slow and somewhat painful but mostly just messy death is bad. Enslaving all non-dragon species is really bad and somebody not busy with all that other stuff should do something about it.
