A fox briskly trots down an empty road, looking to all the world like it knows precisely where it's going.
After a few minutes, he carefully teleports them both up onto the room's human-sized bed, so he can curl up with her and snuggle her comfortably while she sleeps.
She cooperates with this move, in that she nestles closer to her source of warmth and otherwise does not notice the change at all.
Sounds good to her.
She twitches awake several hours later. For a brief moment, she doesn't know where she is, or why she's so comfortable and full and warm, and the first thing she thinks is, If this is an afterlife I'm very disappointed. Then a second later she remembers, and relaxes again. She snuggles closer to Isfain.
Isfain has by this point fallen asleep himself, and is curled up cozily around his small soft new friend.
Yeah, that's understandable.
She doesn't actually want to relocate to her fox box, though. This is nice. It's been such a long time since she's had any contact with anyone. She'll just snuggle him and quietly wait until she calms down.
Eventually she gets back to sleep.
So cozy a nap!
When Isfain wakes up again, he conjures a book to read. One of his magical theory texts, with a focus on life magic. Might as well get started on the problem.
He has a while to study by himself, but eventually his vulpine snuggle buddy yawns and stirs, blinking at him sleepily.
Ooo!
She makes a little happy yip, and scoots up so she can read over his shoulder. While snuggling him.
He sprawls out comfortably so he can easily hold the book where she can see.
It's kind of dense and assumes a lot of context she mostly doesn't have, but that does look to be a magical theory text about life magic.
Eh. She's not expecting to understand everything. She just wants something to do. And she hasn't gotten to read anything in a while; this is interestingly novel. Besides, she likes the snuggles.
He's honestly the most adorable trickster. Ever. In all of time.
... But she would like breakfast. She gently nudges him, then points with her nose at her stomach.
"Oh, right—"
He sits up, and pets her, and pulls a side table close to the edge of the bed and conjures plates of food onto it.
"There you are. I should probably eat something too, come to think." Another couple of plates appear.
He gets an affectionate (cold) nose for his trouble!
Then she goes to eat. Nom!
Awwwww. Aw aw aw.
Nevermind, she takes it back, eating can wait in favor of making a soft apologetic fox noise. Sorry, Isfain. She uh, forgets her nose is cold sometimes. Have an apologetic nuzzle before she goes and actually eats.
Food!
She doesn't eat as much this time; she's still digesting from earlier, and also maybe recovering a little from malnutrition. Best not to push it. Lots of little meals are the way to go, she thinks.
When she's done, she returns to snuggling him. Hey, it's nice, she's had a tough time of it, why not?
