<downdraft_updraft> so yeah i can see the argument but i'm not actually that attached to my continued existence
<colorless_green_ideation> okay but if you _did_ get resurrected in the post-singularity future, what would you want to make sure it had
<downdraft_updraft> uh

<downdraft_updraft> i have actually thought about that some? but not too much because it gets depressing easy
<downdraft_updraft> easy stuff: people, shouldn't have to devote their lives to working to get by
<downdraft_updraft> i don't mean that everyone is living idle luxury but that you can always do something _the way you want to do it_ not the economically sound way and that is more than sufficient
<colorless_green_ideation> *nod*
<downdraft_updraft> and if you hit bottom somehow that is just an opportunity to build up again

<downdraft_updraft> and i would hope that this would fall out of the previous but, social improvement in the "everyone gets to do whatever they want and nobody complains just because it's not their thing"
<downdraft_updraft> if i want to turn into a dragon with mosaics of flowers for scales nobody is going to loudly speculate about my sexuality
<downdraft_updraft> speaking of which, that part of gender roles has got to go, the part where by default only women are allowed to _routinely_ wear, or be, art
<downdraft_updraft> t-shirts with pictures on them don't count
<downdraft_updraft> also uh there is the other side of that of course, obligation to be Pretty, wear makeup, smile all the time, i haven't experienced that of course but that's what I hear

<downdraft_updraft> wow bit of a tangent there
<colorless_green_ideation> 'sfine I like hearing about things

“That was more consistency than I expect I would have gotten before!”

She will accept corrections but — “it's easier to remember if I know what the goal or shape is, like, 'keep a straightish line from here to your foot' or something, not just specific adjustments.”

"Oh, hm, okay -" and she can modify her approach accordingly.

When it's going smoothly, learning things is fun! Shooting things is fun!

Tarinda gets a recurved longbow and another target presents itself for her.

“What's this? Are you proposing a totally unfair contest?”

"Not unless you want to have one!"

“Could be fun, but you had something in mind already.”

"I was just gonna practice too instead of staring over your shoulder the whole time."

“—well now I need to apologise for being self-centered.”

"You're fine. Do you wanna have a contest? We can see who improves more over previous best if you like 'em fair."

“I wanna suggest something thoroughly ridiculous instead but I have no ideas!”

"You can try to hit your target and I can try to hit your bolts in midair? That's unfair in your favor."

“I did not mean to include fairness one way or the other in the criteria! But sure, now I gotta see this!”

"I probably won't actually manage it," she says, nocking an arrow, "but who knows."

“I have shot a grand total of two bolts! I will be mostly practicing and not trying to evade you!”

She returns her attention to the target. Crrrk click pause kthup.

Tarinda shoots. She misses; her target catches her arrow.

They both have something to try again!

Wheee.

After several more she has managed to, on average, hit the center of the target.

Tarinda can't hit the bolts, although she gets surprisingly close and does knock one off course.

“You're not doing so well! Perhaps we should swap and you get the easier kind!”

"Sure."

She trades. She explains how to hold and fire the bow.

She will hold and fire the bow! There will be no floofing this time because letting go of a string is less surprising-when-it-happens.

Tarinda can't hit the arrows but gamely tries.

“Are you actually still having fun with that, I can't tell.”
