It's a nice library, especially for such a small town, with plenty of everything, but a focus on science and poetry, a well-appointed children's' section, a nice selection of music and holovids, and comfy chairs offering varying amounts of privacy.
Right now, though, it's closing time; the announcements have been made, the final checkout rush handled, and now the librarian is making one last check before she locks up for the night.
Eventually, Nova starts getting twitchy and anxious, feeling on edge from effectively doing nothing, and potentially keeping Pradnakt, Daisy and Nine from other things.
Pradnakt picks up on it immediately, of course. "Ready to go back in?"
"We were taking a break from the garden, actually. But you can go in if you'd like, Nova, I can finish up on my own."
He thinks for a moment. "I- I'd like to help finish the garden? I-If that's- okay?"
(Pradnakt hangs around for a few minutes, watching them with a smile rather than going right in.)
Well, Nova can move and head back to the garden. He'll pause briefly and tilt his head at Pradnakt, but she's smiling, so he'll smile back shyly, and set to work finishing what they need to do in the garden.
He relaxes a little when he notices Pradnakt has left them to it - it's less like having a foreman stood over them, even if he isn't exactly putting Pradnakt in that role, it's still a mild worry in the back of his head.
And they get back to work. Daisy keeps an eye on him, just as before, checking regularly to see whether he needs a break or a drink.
He settles into the work, and with regular checks will remember he's allowed to take breaks and have water when he needs it.
They finish up shortly after noon, and then Daisy gathers up a collection of vegetables for lunch, sending him after the spinach and tomatoes while she gets everything else.
He fetches the things he's sent for, and shows them to her to make sure he's got it right, and got enough.
Yes, very good. And then back inside, where Pradnakt has some kind of gadget disassembled over half the table and Nine is still reading.
He glances curiously at what Pradnakt is doing, but doesn't want to disturb either of them, so drifts after Daisy to see if he can help her in any way.
She sets him up with some vegetables to chop on one side of the counter - she keeps the onion for herself - and sets about making a pie crust on the other side, explaining as she does that they're making a quiche, and what that is, and the basic recipe.
He pays close attention to her while carefully chopping the vegetables, nodding along to show his understanding.
She makes the crust and prepares the eggs, and then helps with the rest of his vegetables and shoos him over to the table so she can cut the onions, explaining that it'll hurt his eyes if he's too close while she does.
He hesitates, looking like he's going to say he can do it, but stops himself and moves back over to perch on one of the benches, curling his legs up to his chest again.
He nods (and isn't even actually really lying, he's just at a loose end). Just didn't want to disturb you.
I'm not doing anything I can't interrupt. Not until you're all settled in.
