He nods. Ducks his head a little shyly. "I- bout the only time I. Really feel warm?" he admits.

"Ah. Pradnakt can probably do something about that while you're at home, if you'd like me to ask her."

For half a second he genuinely looks like he's considering it. "I- s'fine. M'used to it. Wouldn't- want to be a bother." That isn't why he'd mentioned it.

"All right." She doesn't sound entirely convinced that it is. "Let me know if you change your mind, I'm sure it won't be any trouble."

He nods. "Will," he promises.

"Good."

"She already does something like that for herself, you know. She can't hear very well on her own, so she uses an effect to help her understand what people are saying. That's why I sign to her, it's still a little easier for her that way."

He's quiet for a moment, staring at his hands. "Oh," he says quietly. "I- would it be. Helpful if I learned?" (He half thinks he shouldn't ask to be taught this, but if it'll make things easier for Pradnakt...)

She ducks her head slightly, in a way that suggests a grin. "She'd like that, I bet. If you want to."

He gives one, somewhat muted bounce, and a tiny smile. "I would," he confirms. (And quite aside from that being because it'll help Pradnakt, he's curious and interested in it, although he pushes those thoughts away.)

And so she teaches him some signs. Just a few, to start: yes and no and all three of their names, and - "Pradnakt's name means sunset, if you do that one in reverse you get sunrise, too."

He's a focused learner, copying her motions (and the flames around his hands imitate the signs slightly away from his hands, a strange shadow). He nods seriously at the information.

From there she introduces some verbs - stay, go, get, put, eat, and so on; enough to form simple sentences with, with some pointing.

"You're pretty good at this," she comments after a while.

He isn't really sure how to respond to that, not really used to anyone telling him he was good at anything. (There is a tiny feeling that is probably pride.) He shrugs a little. "Thank you?" (He thinks that might be the right response.)

Another head-tilt-grin. "You're welcome."

(He's not entirely sure he's supposed to think that's...cute? He thinks that's the word, but...)

He manages another smile in response (it feels somehow easier, and he's not entirely sure why).

Aww.

"Pradnakt might want you soon, but we can go over a few more while we wait - are there any words you want to learn?"

He's quiet for a moment, thinking. "I- um, 'please'? 'Thank you'? And, maybe- fire?"

"Of course."

And Pradnakt climbs down as they're finishing up, quietly so as not to interrupt but not supernaturally so.

He gets a little less focused on Daisy when Pradnakt climbs down, but noticeably forces himself to not entirely focus on Pradnakt until Daisy's finished showing him signs, and he's done copying the motions. (There's a thread of worry that this'll offend her, but... But she hadn't demanded his attention, and she'd seemed to be trying to avoid interrupting.)

When they're done, he turns a little more towards her.

And she seems pleased enough about it, or at least that's the impression he gets.

When they're done, she steps closer, so he can see her by the his firelight - the sun's down, now; it's not fully dark yet, but the light is fading quickly. "Learning my sign language?" she asks, casually; it's not very clear who she's directing the question at.

"Mmhmm. He's good at it, too."

She nods. "Good. Nova, do you want to keep going with that for a while, or are you ready for those exercises I mentioned?"

He'd hummed an affirmative in time with Daisy's comment - and ducked his head shyly at the compliment.

He- isn't sure. He's enjoying learning sign, but if Pradnakt's ready to do the exercises he shouldn't delay. He half goes to sign, realises he doesn't have 'exercises'. "Um, the exercises are fine?"

Her grin widens a little when he goes to sign - it's pretty clear where Daisy got that ducked-head gesture - and then she nods and sits. "Okay." She signs along as she speaks. "So, this should be easy enough to start with. Nova, I want you to think back to how you felt when you were working with Daisy - you were happy; I'm not sure if you noticed or not. And I want you to just sit and feel that for a bit. It's okay if your mind wanders; if you end up thinking about other things that make you happy, that's fine, and if you end up thinking about things that don't, I want you to take a deep breath and come back to thinking about how working with Daisy made you feel again. Okay?"
