She can do everything she wants to do herself

She can --

"Can I wish -- I want to be able to find out anything, to get into any system and keep everything I find or know, and copy it so everyone can know everything I do."

That is within your potential. Are you ready to contract with me and become a magical girl?

"Yes."

Then with what wish will your soul shine?

"I wish to be able to get into any system and decrypt anything and record anything I sense or do or think so everyone can know and so I can -- copy it and -- and prove it when I'm right --"

Wish granted. Congratulations, you have successfully reduced net entropy.

For the briefest of instants, she experiences pain vastly in excess of anything she has ever known, in every particle of her being- and then it's over, and there's a light shining in front of her, pure and bright.

Take it, says the Incubator.

She does.

In her hands rests a smooth purple gem, softly glowing and encased in a golden filigree harness with a small stylized eye shape at the top.

Hundreds of years. Better get cracking.

She transforms. Her dress has epaulettes made of various types of cable and about a dozen buttons. Her gem is on the back of her neck, and a cord -- entirely superficial -- extends from it and into both of the epaulettes. Her weapon is a sniper rifle. She can connect it to a visor that will expand her field of vision and let her interface with her data.

She extends the cords from her epaulettes with a twist of magic. One connects into her computer, and suddenly she is inside it, swimming, watching as its entire contents are copied and safe. The whole process occurs in the blink of an eye.

Very impressive, says a new voice inside her head. An older girl in a dark green vest and long skirt stands outside the window, despite it being some forty stories above the ground. She taps the glass and gives a short wave.

"How long have you been there?"

"Fifteen seconds, give or take."

"Long enough to hear my wish?" Naomi feels vaguely exposed.

"I saw your transformation."

"That's not a no," she says slowly. "Come on, I just spent like ten minutes talking to this thing." She points her thumb at the ... magic ... cat. "I want to talk to someone without feeling like I'm pulling teeth."

"MSY policy is that a girl's wish is private, but they do maintain a confidential database of known wishes for statistical analysis. If the girl wants to share she can, or if her mentor hears it, she's encouraged to. You seem like you'd disprefer that. I can't share what I haven't heard, but I thought lying to your face would be a poor start to our relationship."

"Oh! Oh it's not the content of the wish or anything I just, well, it was a very emotional moment and, I mean I just felt kind of exposed, but that's no reason to keep it secret, especially if it's useful."

"All right. Do you mind if I come in?"

"Yes! I mean, no! Um. Let me open the window."

The curtains rustle as she fumbles with the screen.

She waits patiently, then agilely slips inside.

"My name's Ellie, by the way."

"Naomi. Nice to meet you," she says absently. "I think I have the wish memorized, but let me write it down just in case." Her visor blinks as a screen passes across it. She copies her memory of making the wish and saves it.

"Did the Incubator tell you about grief cubes?"

"No. I forgot to ask about basically everything. I don't think I was thinking very clearly."

"They tend to be like that. It at least mentioned demons?"

Naomi checks. (She can check!) "Yep. How long does it generally take to kill them? I had no clue how to use any kind of weapon. Before now."
