Backstory:
Her parents stopped at a random hospital when the omega started giving birth early. (The hospital helped, of course). Most of the birth was fine but Xeyr looked basically certain-to-not-make-it. She was left in the hospital because they wouldn't not try.

She made it; the hospital tried to find her parents but had no idea who they were. She grew up in an orphanage (her country has those, which is somewhat unusual). It wasn't very comfortable for her - omegas don't tend to be in those, and adults tried to bring her up into her role, and people paid attention to her a lot.
