By the end of the war, medical science had advanced to the point that the world's greatest surgeon opted to create his own successor from scratch. Fran Madaraki (think Black Jack illustrated by Junji Ito) is more True Neutral than Chaotic Evil – like a genie armed with phenomenal power and a hazy understanding of human values, she happily saves lives with no regard for the cost. Sometimes the cost is quite high indeed.
