The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
Hello, she says to arson angel. There is an outstanding warrant for your arrest on charges of arson and I wanted to speak with you about it.
I don't mean to scare you. I want to resolve this in a way that is satisfying to you, if that is possible.
She will just wait, how about that.
She waits to talk to the angel in the salon until they are done in the salon.
The arson angel cringes for a while, then attempts to tunnel out the back of his cave.
The salon angel works for a while and then leaves work for the day.
She does not want the arson angel to tunnel out of his cave; that should stop working.
Hello, she says to the salon angel, There is an outstanding warrant for your arrest on charges of altering people without their consent and I wanted to speak with you about it.
The arson angel goes "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
The salon angel says something in an angel language.
If you'd rather answer your summons to answer these charges, you can do that, she tells the de-angeled angel.
I don't speak your language, but you can answer me like this, she tells the other one.
The arson angel sobs into the fluffy wall of his cave.
What do you have to say? asks the salon angel.
I recently made contact with the human world that tries to do justice in these cases. I would like to see it done better, which involves making it surer that people who commit crimes answer for them but also making it surer that the punishment is not excessive and not disruptive to those pursuits of yours that don't involve harming other people.
If there are extenuating circumstances or other information I should have about what you did, I would like to hear it.
Nothing you say to me will be used as evidence, but that is a very reasonable preference. I will accompany you while you arrange representation, unless you intend to do that by answering the summons for you.
You are not welcome in my home and not entitled to listen in on my interactions with counsel, and it may take me some time to find anyone with expertise in your legal system with an interest in representing me.
I am concerned that if I do not follow you around you might forget to be working on those arrangements, but I am happy to stay outside your home and not listen to your conversations.
Lots of conduct is permitted in order to serve an arrest warrant which is not otherwise permitted. I am not sure what purpose it serves for us to educate each other on our respective understandings of different legal systems. Would you prefer that we both remain here while you arrange for counsel? That is feasible.
Perhaps you could tell me who is an expert on legal proceedings which involve extradimensional enforcers? I was expecting them to be hard to come by.
I think it is typical to arrange a lawyer once you show up. I can recommend you some but it wouldn't be safe for them here, they're incarnates.
But if the selection of representation is inadequate in some way I will find myself already trapped and bound whether anyone eventually produces a lawyer or not.
That seems like a serious drawback to the human system. Do you have suggestions on how it could be modified to resolve that?
