The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
"...she's my sister. My redmage sister. Even if she would ever do anything to hurt me she'd know if I said something about it whether she was there or not."
"I can't think of anything you'd cause trouble for him over. He's always perfectly lovely to me," says Cir.
"Shouldn't be a big deal. Anyway, there's a procedure now and I can stop telling everyone not to date humans under any circumstances in favor of something a bit more balanced and sensible."
"Instead if Elves date humans you have to give them lots of money in a trust that the Elf can't revoke, I'm sure it will be very discouraging to the humans." Kiss.
Kiss. "I expect some Elves will get taken advantage of but at least they will have gotten a safety lesson warning against it and a broken heart is probably more easily mended than the realization you were accidentally exploiting someone."
"I think it'd usually be more ambiguous how much people were being exploited, if they were? Like, even someone who really needs help won't pick an Elf at random - I interviewed you a little first and I knew I could love you pretty much no matter what -"
Snuggle. "Fair enough. I am more worried about things like 'someone lies to an Elf about taking Seedlessness regularly' or 'someone lies to an Elf about being married', those would be - clear-cut, upsetting, not implausible -"
"Does Seedlessness not work on Elves? It's unisex. We usually take it redundantly and even if we don't expect it to come up, it's not that expensive."
"Haven't checked and it's anyway quite plausible we're not relevantly intercompatible species, but that'd help."
